Ear piercing

Aibu to think £35 to have ears pierced is extortionate! Both dd's want theirs doing this summer. We can't afford £70 for this on top of everything else we have planned to keep them happy.

I can only think of Claires accessories. Is there anywhere else we could go that is cheaper but obviously still safe/deal with kids regularly.

Shamefully posting here for traffic...

Thanks Smile

I worked at Claire's when I was 16 as a part time job. To train to pierce ears I had to watch a half hour video then practice on a colleague and that was it!

After lots of research. I've phoned F.Hinds jewellers they pierce ears from age 6 for free but you pay for the studs. I think he said this was £17.95 each. I can afford this but does this price sound good? I may phone our local salon in the morning to see if they offer it as it will save me going into town.

Please don't go to Claire's!! Ears should never ever be pierced with a gun, it just displaces the tissue rather than get rid like a hollow needle does. Your local tattooist or piercer will be so much better and cheaper. If you live in the North East Newcastle Jewellers in the centre of Newcastle is brilliant. Also £35 is extortionate, I bet they put the price up during school hols!

DD2 just had her ears done at beauty studio in local department store. £18.

CuriousVillage · 03/08/2015 21:29

No idea re F.Hinds. Sorry. Do they use a needle or gun? I'm not sure how you acertain whether £17.95 is a good price for the studs or not. Surely that depends on what the studs are made from...

Find a reputable piercer who uses a needle and titanium jewellery. Don't put gold in a fresh wound (which until it heals is what new piercings are!)

My studio would charge £35 for a pair of earlobes. If you can't afford to do it safely why bother?

justalittlelemondrizzle · 05/08/2015 00:23

Guy on the phone said you get plain 9ct gold studs for that price. They also offer titanium. I may pop in this week to check out their range.

Blue banana will pierce lobes from age 5 with parental consent. I took dd (9) the other weekend. Had my eyebrow done in solidarity. Ds (5) was fascinated by all the blood Grin

Welshmaenad · 05/08/2015 00:52

Oh, and it was £15 for ear lobes.

[laugh] at Eatshit...

I still needed an ice cube either end.

£35 isnt extortionate for you to pay for a reputable place to pierce young childrens ears at all in my book.

A potato!? Grin
