to feel quite sorry for Walter Palmer?

Not very sorry what with him being a humungous twat for liking big game hunting, obviously. But seriously, worldwide opprobium and trial by media for partaking in a legal activity (he claims his permits were legit) that is a significant income stream for an impoverished third world country?

Also, while I'm at it, the death of a lion makes headlines? When did you last see a headline about the deaths of six million people in the civil war in the DRC?

I wear fur and my cat is sitting on my lap right now.

He has the softest, densest fur and he'd be in demand as a pelt. It would probably take about 15 of him to make a jacket.

I can't justify that any more than people justify eating meat or killing animals for trophies.

I am a hypocrite.

Walter Palmer has been caught in the crossfire of public opinion and he's just going to have to tough it out.

Ohfourfoxache · 29/07/2015 17:28

This has probably been said already, but the bit I can't get over is that he says "I regret killing this lion".

This lion. So he'd still have gone off to kill a lion, but not necessarily Cecil.

The fact that he would kill any lion makes him a sick fucker IMHO. I'd love to have 5 minutes alone with him and a crossbow Angry

Radicalrooster · 29/07/2015 17:48

Fuck him, fuck him, fuck him. And then fuck him again. With a lion. An angry one.

WitchofScots · 29/07/2015 17:53

I'd feel sorry for him for a few seconds, that'd be the few seconds it'd take if I were to push him out of my car in the lion enclosure at Longleat.

noddingoff · 29/07/2015 17:55

Well, he's probably a more worthy recipient of the "Two Minutes' Hate" than an intellectually challenged Miss America contestant discussing world maps, or even some nutty woman putting a cat in a wheelie bin, but I'm sure there will be another target along soon.

ratspeaker · 29/07/2015 17:59

He's a dentist, he understands the concept of pain.
The humans he comes in to contact with in his job no doubt get anaesthetic when getting treatment.
So I have no sympathy with a man that shoots an animal with a crossbow, lets it suffer , wander about wounded , for 40 hours , then kills it, conveniently ignoring the tracking device attached to the lion.

JaWellNoFine · 29/07/2015 17:59

I'd like to lure the fuckhead out of his dentist office and shoot him .. Maybe in the stomach. Then watch him bleed to death over 2 days.

And yeah. A single lion is worth a lot of human lives. We are a horrible species that is destroying the world. The lion has done nothing.

JaWellNoFine · 29/07/2015 18:02

Oh and apparently he knew what he was doing. He has previously pleaded guilty for a similar case with a black bear on Minnesota.

FundamentalistQuaker · 29/07/2015 18:14

Lure him out of his office and shoot him? That's a disgusting thing to post.

Bollywhat · 29/07/2015 18:34

love this blog post about it, OP you may enjoy!

TheWintersmith · 29/07/2015 18:52

The factual inaccuracy is annoying me. The bbc had it wrong on their website.

It isn't a fucking crossbow. It was a compound bow. You can see it in the pictures. Totally different thing to a crossbow.

I always wonder in these cases if they get something so fundamental wrong, something you can see in the picture they WTF else is being reported inaccurately.

CatchIt · 29/07/2015 18:53

This pretty much sums up most normal people's feelings I think. And no. I don't feel at all sorry for him, I'm glad his business is down the drain.

Yarp · 29/07/2015 18:55

OP

When did you last start a thread about the things you mention in the OP?

Yarp · 29/07/2015 18:58

Also,

I think people don't really care that hunting is legal, since they believe it to be immoral

arnieschwartzsnogger · 29/07/2015 19:01

No, not at all but I do feel sorry for you Twist. It's all about money. The trophy hunter and the locals he paid. Greedy fuckers the lot of them. DH hails from Africa and he too is disgusted.

No animal should be killed with a bow and arrow to die a slow death of 40 hours. It's inhumane. With any luck that tosser will meet the same fate.

recall · 29/07/2015 19:01

YABU feeling sorry for this twat

Yarp · 29/07/2015 19:03

What I find annoying is that on MN, some people seem to feel it's impossible to care both about the death of 6 million people and the hunting of lions.

Or to care about dogs and children.

Or to care about old people and young mothers

Newbrummie · 29/07/2015 19:05

I feel sorry for the tour guides who will now bear the brunt of the quest for justice

AmysTiara · 29/07/2015 19:05

I couldn't care less what happens to him now. Horrible man.

SmellyFartado · 29/07/2015 19:18

Yes you are being wholly unreasonable to have any shred of pity for Walter Palmer who frankly is a despicable, cowardly cunt as are the many other hunters like him!

The fuck he thought it was legal. £35k to back street poachers to bait a tracked animal out of a nature reserve at night. Where was he when they skinned and beheaded the lion and tried to destroy the tracking device? He's paid to go into another country and commit a crime. Bring the fucker to face charges like his accomplices.

OttiliaVonBCup · 29/07/2015 19:31

Why do you feel sorry for the guides, Brummie?
They knew what they were doing.
Was it the first time they did it?
I doubt it.

Happfeet2911 · 29/07/2015 20:00

I would love to have him as a target and fire arrows at him, slowly, one at a time until he died in agony! Hopefully his business will suffer and he will develop a painful incurable disease. YABVU

Anyone who feels sorry for him is just as much of a scumbag as he is. I for one am signing every petition going to make sure he gets every punishment possible.
