To get super irritated by the endless search for decent jeans in ' fashionable' high street shops

I'd like a pair of good quality, skinny/slim fit, dark wash jeans.

I don't want a super high waist that gives me camel toe, I don't want baggy crotch, I don't want a jegging that will stretch out of shape within three wears, I don't want 90s fit that gives you an elephant bum, I don't want ripped knees, embroidered flowers, diamanté bits or ankle grazers, I don't want to pay £60, I don't want stone wash or acid wash or yellow or burn out or aztec print, I don't want poor sizing or tiny pockets that make your bum look weird, I don't want 90% lycra, I don't want them to be called Alice or Luella or fucking Tabitha when it bears no relation to the fit of the jean, and most of all I'd like to know what my size is without having to try on three different sizes in each style because it's bloody exhausting.

The search continues....

I used to get topshop Baxter, but they've totally changed them now. The last pair I got go baggy within about an hour and look shit but were still £££

I've got some Topshop Marthas from years ago which are lovely but I have to ration wear as they're wearing out.

I've got some Next jeggings, but they're are more like jeans. They're ok but do go baggy a bit too.

I've also got some Gok Wans from sainsburys which are brilliant.

DinosaursRoar · 25/07/2015 07:15

I don't know if they've got dark wash this time round, but the Boden skinny jeans are the best I've found. I currently own 4 pairs.

Chickpeabiryani · 25/07/2015 07:20

Holly super skinny, Red Herring at Debenhams. Immediately went back for a second pair they were so good!

Littlecaf · 25/07/2015 07:34

Another vote for Oasis Cherry jeans. High enough waist to go over my mum tum but sit on the hip so not too high, skinny fit and dark blue. Not too expensive.

Flutterbutterfly · 25/07/2015 07:43

I've got baxters and Martha's from top shop. Bought off ebay for about £6 inc shipping.

The first pair I got (3years or so ago) were better than the replacements I just got. However they are still a really easy, comfortable wear.

The baxters look great, tight and sexy but not a lounging Jean.

TickledOnion · 25/07/2015 07:44

Another vote for oasis cherry jeans.

mrsdavidbowie · 25/07/2015 07:47

Try buying them when your inside leg is 35 inches

Melawen · 25/07/2015 07:50

Oh yes! I seem to have particularly short legs and it is such a pain buying new jeans - the ones that fit me are usually from M&S or Debenhams!

SurreyCanal · 25/07/2015 08:25

Maybe I could try Oasis. I've also had River Island recommended so I'll have a go there too. Popped to Sainsburys last night and liked the look of the Gok ones but they only had size 12 and over left. Tried Gap on yesterday but their style did not work with my shape, which was disappointing - had that annoying waistband-gaping above my bum.

If you're going abroad on holiday, try and find Salsa. It's a clothing shop in a lot of European countries that do jeans. I have a biggish bum and small waist and have never found a pair of jeans that didn't gape - until now! I got the style that lifts your bum, they're a good waist height and really comfy. You can get them over here but they're about £85. I think they're in House of Fraser and Selfridges maybe. Much cheaper in Portugal where I got mine.
The other thing I found when I was looking was the advice was always the same. Buy a pair that you think are far too small (and I mean super tight, have to breathe in to do the button!) as they'll stretch very quickly to your shape. I did that and my jeans fit great and I'm not pulling them up all the time like I used to. Good luck with the hunt!

LaurieFairyCake · 25/07/2015 08:48

Alicat79 - I can't find Next Jeggings, only denim leggings at £22

Is it those ones??

VenusVanDamme · 25/07/2015 08:53

I was always a top shop girl but found they became really expensive and a bit shit - my baxters went really baggy at the knees.

New look seem to work for me now, if you scoot past the hundreds of ripped knee ones they still have plain dark wash jeans.

OftheTwilighttheDarkness · 25/07/2015 09:00

I like new look jeans, I got a pair of really nice dark blue ones for £15. I have quite chunky legs but relatively small bum and hips so I often struggle with skinny jeans. I also go a pair of the M&S relaxed skinnys. They fit well, I did need to go down a size though. I wish they were darker blue though.

WorktoLive · 25/07/2015 09:54

Thanks to all those mentioning Oasis Cherry. I had forgotten about those and was meaning to buy some once I had lost weight, which I now nearly have - will be in the market for new jeans in a month or two.

I have been managing with these from M+S over the past year or two when I have been in 'want to lose weight so don't want to buy expensive clothes that I hope will be too big soon' mode but the ones I have are now getting too big, especially as they stretch so much. When I bought mine they did a darker denim wash.

Why can't they invent jeans that don't grow at least a size after you have worn them a couple of hours?

I am always on the quest for good skinnies. Have lost nearly 2 stone which has eliminated the constant rolling down of the jeans at the front. Loving Zara jeans and oasis jade. Red herring holly skinnies are also great. Have these in green and indigo.

LikeASoulWithoutAMind · 25/07/2015 10:26

I love Oasis Cherry too. But they seem to have changed the fabric this season? Doesn't work so well for me (and added £10 to the price Hmm ) I'd still say they are worth a try though.

I got some straight leg jeans from M&S Indigo (to wear rolled up in the summer) and they're really not bad, keep their shape well - a good buy at £18 (got them during one of their 20% off promotions) Wondering if I might try the skinny ones from the same collection.

LikeASoulWithoutAMind · 25/07/2015 10:28

The standard Oasis Jade jeans don't work for me but I have a pair of the Jade biker jeans and they are brilliant. Very flattering.

LaurieFairyCake · 25/07/2015 11:13

Thanks Bastard, ordered two pairs Smile

Lurkedforever1 · 25/07/2015 11:47

Try finding them when the few places that do long go up to 34" leg, and you need 36", plus you have virtually no hips or bum so nearly every pair sags if you find it long enough. And whilst I'm tall, my waist to crotch length isn't in proportion to my leg length. I bought loads when skinny jeans with baggy ankles were the fashion, and just wore them unbaggy. For my shape I find tkmaxx has the best range.
But in fairness finding jeans to fit is a doddle compared to any other kind of trousers.

spongebob5 · 25/07/2015 18:19

Try River Islands Amelie , they're about £40, & I bought a size bigger than normal Shock but they fit really nicely ! I'm 37 & too old for RI really

Chips1999 · 25/07/2015 19:46

I bought a really nice pair of skinny jeans in Manho for £29.99, they fit well and feel soft. There's a bit of stretch so they are comfortable too ".

Alicat79 · 25/07/2015 21:38

These look like the right next ones. I got mine last season. Hope you like them. The description says leggings but they aren't like actual legging material. Some next stuff can be hideous but these are really great quality for the price.
