Overcrowded with autistic child

Could anyone offer any advice or information on how to improve my chances of a move.

Myself, partner and 2 children (girl 11 and boy 9 whom has autism and receive dla mid rate care and low mobility) we live in a first floor 2 bed flat rented from a housing associations. I have been trying to get a bigger place to reduce the strain on all the family. We have been waiting for 9 year on housing list but they won't accept that the house is unsuitable for our family. They have asked me to write a letter explaining our issues. But can't think what to include!!
Any advice would be welcomed

Thanks

Lindsey

Definitely visit your Doctor and get a letter...overcrowding causes stress, depression and anxiety.

I think the key is the explain the effect on your other child eg sleep, danger.

I had an autistic child sharing with the opposite sex with a seven year gap and was put on the priority list, but we were still there after three years. We found an exchange in the end.

Good luck Flowers

Short term can you put a curtain across?
Best bet would be local citizens advice because they'll be familiar with your ha's system as well as the standard rules

Does he have extra sensory issues? If so then surely this would be a reason to give him a room of his own.

I remember once filling in a form about my own disability and CAB said 'write it like it's the worse day and leave nothing out'

similar situation here but with another sibling, now the one with the issues has his own room due to violence to sibling and the b/g share. I sent in letters from camhs, pead and other agencies we were working with and the HA agreed he needs his own room-although they failed to tell me of this until a while ago during a phone call, as they sent a letter saying banding unchanged I assumed they hadn't agreed. As we stand now, when his younger sibling turns ten we will be allowed to bid for a 4 bed (like hens teeth where I live).....until then we manage and I have slept on the sofa in the living room for 4 yrs and finally will be buying a sofabed v soon!

you need to write a letter explaining how/why he needs his own space and get other agencies to support you with it if possible.

check out the age sharing thing as I thought it was across the board in social housing that once a g/b sharing one turns ten then they are deemed too old to share and housing need/priority increases.
