To hate it when people dip their used cutlery into communal dishes

I really hate it when someone uses the fork or spoon they have been eating with and dips it into a dish of vegetables or casserole in the middle of the table to take another helping, instead of using the serving spoon supplied.

AIBU to find this off putting and to have thrown out dishes of leftovers where a guest has done this?

sorry if this has already ben mentioned, but the grimmest double dipping story i heard, on here of course, was about someone at a family BBQ diping a breadstcik , giving it TO THEIR DOG to bite in half, then dipping it in again.

dog slobber in the communal sauces, lovely.

I hope it was a joke, but I think it was true!

I really can't get worked up about this at all - doesn't bother me in the slightest.

I'm with LovelyFriend. I never think about or notice stuff like this. Eating something that had been touched by a spoon that had been in someone's mouth just wouldn't bother me. You'd be talking about miniscule little dots of saliva being on a small surface area of the food. So what?

Ugh - I read somewhere once that a test had been done on a dip when everyone had finished and it was found that there were more germs in it than on a lavatory seat! Whether this is true or not, I have avoided dips at parties ever since!!!
