In Lidl over lunchtime doing a big shop! Basket full and did not look like food for the kids, 3 toddlers around 2/3 and 1 child in a buggy! Definitely not her children!

Is this normal or acceptable? I would really like to know! My judgy pants up to my armpits right now!! Thanks

LaurieMarlow · 16/07/2015 15:21

I've never done a sum up before, but I feel this thread merits one Grin

OP: AIBU?

Everyone: YES! And judgemental
OP: You're a pack of argumentative cats
Everyone: You're the one who hoiked up the judgey pants
OP: Well it's none of my business anyway, you all think you're better than me, I'm off
Everyone: Bye
OP: You're only arguing against me to justify your own crap childcare choices
OP: And you've intimidated everyone who thinks I'm NBU into not posting
OP: And I'm going to name change and come back and argue I'm NBU

Anniegetyourgun · 16/07/2015 15:26

Do folk honestly have time to even notice? Don't think it would register other than 'she's got her hands full'.

DonkeyOaty · 16/07/2015 15:37

Brilliant sum-up Laurie

RufusTheReindeer · 16/07/2015 15:40

Fuck me

It's turned into another thread where you have to caveat what you say to please the OP...bit like the Tory ones

So firstly my caveat...I have not used a childminder, I am not a childminder

You may think she is a childminder...she may not be a childminder...she may well be someone who only does school drop offs

It may well not be food in the basket, it maybe bits for the children to do crafts with

It's not the end of the world popping to the shop for 10 minutes with other people's children in tow...whether it's a fantastic learning opportunity or not

Tanith · 16/07/2015 15:41

I shop at Waitrose!

Seriously, though, what a bizarre Op/OP!

mrsmeerkat · 16/07/2015 15:46

i like when my childminder brings the dc to the supermarket. It is all part of showing them about life. i would feel hat age and that many is quite a struggle though as i have only a 13 month gap and only 2 dc and struggle. good on her.

Private Pike, thanks for the cake. I trust it's Lidl's finest.

GoodbyeToAllOfThat · 16/07/2015 15:58

Istill have not gotten to Lidl. The talk on here has left me wild with anticipation.

Purplepixiedust · 16/07/2015 16:08

My DS went to nursery.

If I had a CM I would:-
a) Not mind if she took DS to the supermarket
b) Not mind if it was lidl
c) Not mind if the stuff in the basket wasn't for him (unless it was Gin and she planned to drink it while looking after him)!

None of these were concerns which made me choose a nursery.

I think a role of a child minder is to mind children and give them experience doing stuff you would do with your kids if you weren't working. This may include the school run, the shopping etc. I would also expect the CM to go to the library, the park and organise fun activites - as I would if I hadn't been working.

I probably wouldn't mind about her looking after 3 pre- schoolers at once - I wouldn't fancy it but presume the CM has more experience.

Good summary Laurie.
