AIBU?

Rant needed: Multi-level marketing and the 'mysterious' messages from those sucked in.

I know IABU as this has been done to death. Apologies in advance. BUT. .. I am sick to the back teeth of otherwise lovely people going loopy when sucked into 'Forever Living' and co. I fully appreciate it's a handy sideline for those working around other commitments, but it's the whole 'If you're looking for an amazing opportunity to run your own business...' bullshit they pedal to the people close to them. 'PM me if you want to know more'. A lovely woman I know looked crushed when she sent a group email round about 'the launch of her mystery new business blah blah' and I replied saying 'Are you doing Forever Living? I might need you for the odd tube of BB cream if so'. She's spent the last week posting bullshit inspirational quotes on Facebook and can't actually talk any more without trying to rope people in. Her best friends have no idea she needs to sign them up to earn commission. Aaargh. Yes, I have blocked any more updates now so my bloid pressure will survive but seriously? Why can't they just say 'I'm earning a few quid flogging aloe vera products. You fancy it?' Why the bullshit?

far do you get the impression they were told off at school for missing apostrophes and have over compensated?

Is it bad that I kind of want to see the magic video that will make me want to join them? It's only 1 minute and as luck would have it I DO have a smartphone.

Ugh one of my Forever nuts (both mine are single mothers, I'm sad to say, trying to boost their income post-divorce) messaged me asking if I was "now open minded enough to consider this amazing opportunity" as if me not wanting to do it was something to do with being stubborn and deluded.

And don't apologise about starting a thread about this again even though its been done. IT WILL NEVER BE DONE! I WILL LITERALLY NEVER TIRE OF BITCHING ABOUT THIS TOPIC!

On my gravestone it will read: Tatty Devine. Loved to hate Forever Living and will hate it Forever Dying.

Have a read of this blog entry by Rachael Pavlik. You can also call up the comments - they're fascinating.

Oh god. I have younique mugs on my FB. I keep thinking I should delete, but I kind of like the slow-mo car crash. Helps that the seller victim is thick as mince too.

What's younique?

I have a couple of slimming world reps on my fb page, but at least they do some work for the money Smile

One of my DC's friend's mums has managed to piss me off tonight with her 'FL join me' posts on Facebook.

I don't want to out myself, but it was along the lines of 'don't moan about childcare costs during school holidays, join FL and be at home with your kids'.

Funnily enough to she's a childminder, who is friends with her clients on Facebook. I really hope someone comments.

fast I wondered if there was some kind of cash bonus for ABH against apostrophes Grin. Or should that be apostrophe's?

My FB FL nut only got to go to Birmingham. Don't know how she dared show her face again!

Not just me with red pen poised then!

My FL FB stalker is in the throes of recruiting her first sucker. Sad thing is we've all known each other since we were about 5 and it's so bloody obviously shit sales patter to me. At least if you firmly say, 'it's not for me' they don't hassle you.

I had to go the jobcentre last week. There was a job fair on. They had Avon and forever living tables. Unbelievable.

I can't believe people are taken in by such utter bollocks.

And I can't believe people are so willing to prey on people who are friends/family. If anyone tries networking shite on me, my skin crawls.

Is the Cambridge Diet Plan a pyramid scheme too? A vague acquaintance of mine asked to be my fb friend and when I accepted the very next thing she did was to invite me to join this diet. I know I am overweight but I felt this was rude. Not sure whether she's in the grips of a similar cult or just not a very nice person.

Fish No its not it's not. Their consultants either run classes or have clients come to their homes for weigh ins and to buy products. It's more like a franchise if anything

Report
fastdaytears · 22/07/2015 07:08

Fish that is a bit tactless for sure! I'm sure you look great and they asked everyone regardless of size. It's hard to guess who's interested in dieting I guess (also hard not to slap size 6 dieters around the face with their ryvitas). I don't think Cambridge DP have to recruit other sellers in order to make their money.
