It made me feel ill. That planned parenthood, which many people think is an upstanding company, is like this. That this is how much respect for human life they have.

OP posts:

pretty sure women having terminations/thinking about having one will find this upsetting.

Yes I'm certain that is what the purveyors of this video wanted. Lovely people really.

nooka · 17/07/2015 04:47

From the last link: 'It turns out, Nucatola wasn’t discussing the illegal black market sale of fetal organs, but instead the perfectly legal donation of the organs to biomedical research laboratories that use the organs to help save lives .The price range of the organs described by Nucatola is, in reality, the reimbursed expenses accrued in the delivery of the specimens. (Which makes sense: $30 to $100 is hilariously below the going rate for human organs.) .'

So basically a hatchet editing job to tell lies produced by an anti-abortion group. What's new?

Whipnaenae · 17/07/2015 05:23

Watch the unedited version before you start ridiculous ill-informed threads.

differentnameforthis · 17/07/2015 05:50

Matt Walsh? Really? The man who calls termination "child murder" and thinks that terminations carried out for any reason (inc rape & birth defects) are "acts of violence"

PROCEED WITH CAUTION IF YOU ARE SENSITIVE TO CONTENT, contains hateful speech about women who terminate

He also addressed the CEO of PP, regarding her opinions on post 20 week termination (which counts for about 2% of terminations) & his 'article' was all about "killing babies" nothing at all about why women abort, why they feel they need a late term termination, didn't take into consideration that a large majority of terminations carried out at that stage are for abnormalities...

The man who thinks Gay people shouldn't be able to adopt children because "it isn't good for the children"...or who called Caitlyn Jenner a "mockery of femininity" and how calling her a woman was demeaning & insulting to women?

fastdaytears · 17/07/2015 06:29

Has anyone worked out what $30-$100 per suitable termination where consent to use tissue for research would actually amount to? I find it hard to believe it's much, but some of the comments online (not here) are suggesting this is a huge income stream. I'm not sure it is. Recovering expenses when the organisation is not for profit seems fine to me, and presumably means that they can help more people.
Is there any suggestion that consent isn't being obtained?

fastdaytears · 17/07/2015 06:30

and Matt Walsh Shock quite pleased not to have come across him before

hibbledibble · 17/07/2015 08:17

fastday it is $30-100 per body part, so a lot more than that per fetus.

Selling body parts is illegal, and it is clear that this is a lot more than expenses.

There needs to be further clarification regarding consent, but it seems doubtful that the women give fully informed consent for the change of procedure which is required to preserve the organs.

It's also surprising that this story has received so little coverage: apart from fox news, the main news outlets have been very silent.

differentnameforthis · 17/07/2015 10:14

hibbledibble The original video is 3hrs long (approx) and has been edited to 8 or so minutes. If you watch the full version, it is very different & easy to see why no one is running with it.

Canyouforgiveher Link is quite enlightening.

Dawndonnaagain · 17/07/2015 10:18

One wonders what the OP wanted to achieve, this is his/her only post and they haven't been back...

hibbledibble · 17/07/2015 16:27

different what is different on the 3 hour video?

differentnameforthis · 18/07/2015 04:50

The whole conversation. It is very enlightening how they cut & edited it to make PP come off as they did.

undermythumb · 18/07/2015 06:07

I think you are mischaracterising the 3 hour video differentnameforthis. It is more ambiguous than you are saying.

I read quite a good article a couple of days ago in The Atlantic on this. It seemed quite even handed to me.
