To think colouring books are no good for any age kids?

Dd 3 scribbles in them.
Ds1 and ds2 are 6 and 7 and really not bothered. Could it be they are only for 4 and 5 year olds?! (Mine didn't do them at 4 or 5 either though)

Mine have always liked them. And the kids I childmind for. They prefer plain paper though - they go through piles of the stuff.

Just because yours don't doesn't mean other children don't enjoy and benefit from colouring.

YABU. My DD5 loves them. Always has.

Ds always preferred drawing

Dd (4) loves colouring - particularly if someone colours with her. She tries to be very neat and picks her colours carefully. It is definitely helping with her writing

Mine loved them and they really helped with their pencil control skills.

I used to hate colouring in as a child.

I had no patience for that!

Yabu, mine love them. 4 & 6

They're used daily in school in reception to promote correct pencil holding etc. they use them for hours and school swear by them. At home, dds never used them!

Some children like them and some don't. And colouring books vary in styles hugely. Some are better than otters.

Our year 6s love a bit of colouring in (granted it's the grown up stuff but still) great way to calm them down.

All mine colour Ds's 2,4,6. Naturally 2 year old is scribble. They enjoy it the most if I'm colouring with them (I find it very therapeutic lol)

YABU. They really help pencil grip and fine motor control for young children. Also agree it's best done as a 'together' activity.

Mine has always loved them.

My 4 year old isn't bothered about colouring, loves drawing though.

My girls, now aged 10 and 11 still love colouring. In the evenings they will colour in one of the more sophisticated colouring in books for about an hour while they listen to an audio book. Helps them chill out and switch their minds off before bed, and they are totally chuffed with the results, which I have to say look really fantastic.
sometimes I sneak in and colour in a little bit too

DD2 still gets excited when they get to do colouring in at school.
She's 14 and in yr 10!

Mine both hate colouring pictures, and always have, but like those books with the geometrical patterns in them. They'll colour those.

As a child I'd have gnawed my own leg off before colouring in. Dh flatly refused as well apparently.

Lots of the children in my y2 class enjoy colouring in. We have some colouring books in the wet play box and they are very popular. They enjoy drawing too, but the colouring in books always get used.

DD went through phases when smaller.

I like colouring in.

I loved colouring as avhild, I used to make up little stories about the pictures. I still find it very calming and almost therapeutic... though the storytelling commentary has fallen by the wayside

My 13 year old dd sat with my 5 and 7 year old nieces for over an hour colouring in the other day. I joined in for a bit and I'm forty .

My kids aren't really fussed tbh, tho they are 3 and 1 years old.

I remember enjoying them. But they had to be quite intricate with small areas for each colour.
I also liked those felty board pictures for colouring in.
And "painting by numbers".

My love them at age 4 and 5. They have loved them Since crayon scribbling age. Now they are getting into more detailed ones and colour by numbers.
