To wonder what things you miss about your childhood?

I miss old fashioned libraries where everyone had to speak quietly and there was no running around. Nowadays my local library is like a crèche and the elderly people who used to go in there to read the paper and keep warm just don't bother.

I also miss old fashioned Sundays with church bells ringing, and roast dinners, and no one playing out because it was family day, and cheese and toast beside the fire before watching the big Sunday drama. Smile

Just wondering what other OPs remember and regret no longer exist regarding their childhood?

My uncle Charlie. He visited every second Saturday night and take my dad for a pint after tea leaving me and my mum with a giant box of milk tray.

My Mum,she passed away last year.My Granparents they were all flaming amazing but sadly passed away when I was still young.

I miss how things seemed easier when I was growing up,we didn't have all the technology that we have today and family life felt like it was a lot easier for my parents than it is today.

I can remember being 7 years old and being able to go out with my friends we could all wonder of where ever we liked.I have great memories from those long warmer days spent with my friends.

£5 pocket money every saturday, myself and my BF(still best friends now so very lucky)would catch a bus into town,we'd go into Woolies to have a look at the music(single records)and the make up,we'd buy some pick and mix then we'd have a look round town before getting some lunch.
Wimpy was the go to place then, the one we went to was massive and was really done up.Later came Mcdonalds and then a really nice restaurant with a sit in fish and chip cafe downstairs opened up so we'd go to a different place every saturday for lunch.

Saturday night my Mum would always cook us all a nice steak with all the trimmings and there'd be gateu for afters.Sunday was the one full day my Dad had off work.At least once a month he'd take us to London on the Sunday and we'd go to Carnaby Street,Covent Garden,China Town,St James park if the weather was nice.I loved those Sundays.

I miss our big summer and winter family reunions. All eleven cousins hanging out together. Being part of a family, knowing I was loved and accepted. My family was/ is not perfect but we always came together to laugh, chat, remember times gone by. We all have our own families now and are flung about the world, chances are we will not be together again..and well, my cousin, just died in Kenya. The first of the cousin's to die, it has been such a blow to our family.
