Anyone mentioned calling non-emergency police on 101?

And ask them if any cones are missing.

Obviously contact the cone hotline 0345 504030

write his door number on them so they know they are not yours.

You and some like-minded neighbours could arrange them into a pentangle in the middle of the road (could be very effective with a few candles)? Or just stack 'em up and chuck 'em back over the fuckers hedge

Play a cone-trombone (cor anglais! Grin) serenade for the neighbours at midnight?

Report

Or put them all around his car, or on it.

Getthewonder - it's part of a H&S course around closing roads and being allowed to put signs in said closed roads tellin people about it! Highly exciting - not!- but apparently a legal requirement to place such signs! (Folk festival parade steward here rather than usual road crew!)

I live in a city where when it snows, the battle of digging out/space savers/intruders begins. Often it is the only comic relief we get in the winter.

Pick up the cones every day and stack them in different places - be creative!

When I was a kid, one of the neighbours would put out an ironing board to save his spot.

Start taking them!

Report
Hissy · 12/07/2015 09:39

I was going to say that. Take them!

Not like she's going to report them stolen now is it?

What on earth do you think the council or police will do about it? Nothing. They won't be a hazard if they're only place where a car could legally be parked anyway. Just take them. Drop them off outside the police station or the tip problem solved. If he gets more, take them again.

If they're the yellow police no waiting sign ones take them in and phone the police and tell them you've got them

Those things are like gold dust Smile

Ywnbu to assume they had been forgotten by or stolen from local roadworks, and responsibly store them inside your garage/ shed until you get chance to call the highways agency to collect them. And ywnbu to be one of those people that despite having a strong sense of moral duty have a brain like a sieve when it comes to remembering to call.

Whatever you do OP, don't go out at night and crush one as flat as possible. Don't then force it under the front of the car so it is wedged out of sight under the engine.
That would be awful to watch when she drove off in the morning.

food for thought here, some great ideas, um sallyingforth you win the star prize for imagination.
trexing speaking to another neighbour, she says our local council gets very sniffy about parking and cones so i think that's the answer in the long run, she 'was told' off by a traffic warden about it and some bloke from the council to boot.

If you are in the UK then your local council highway enforcement officer can attempt to deal with it or they may just get the street cleansing contractor to remove them as dumped rubbish. You can call your local council to report them anonymously, be sure to say what property are putting them out. It is considered as illegal obstruction of the Highway.

You would have to think I it really is a big enough issue, do they do it everyday to save a space for themselves or are they getting work done and want to save all place for the works van, just seriously think about whether its worth your time, as neighbourly disputes once started often can go on for years and sometimes escalate to ridiculous levels from very small beginnings.

Even calling it in anonymously they will have their suspicions so just be careful.

Do you ever have visitors who come by car? If you do, wait until they reach your road, put the cones on the pavement, and get your visitor to park where they were.

Leave a note saying I moved the cones as the space was needed if you fancy it!

If your visitor can stay until your NDN gets home so much the better!

honeyroar · 12/07/2015 15:58

Put them outside his front door and superglue them there?

You need to get a wee statue to set the cones off nicely

And while I know many of the suggestions are in jest DO NOT go onto your neighbours property with them or chuck them onto it. Just move them safely to the back of the footway if you need access to the space in the meantime.

Report
Pohtaytoh · 12/07/2015 16:23

Just take them, hide them, then deny all knowledge. 'Cones, what cones?'
