I only buy the potted one from Tesco for Ramadan.
Water it every day and it lasts the whole month easily.
My basil plant lasts for at least 6 months usually. Mint lasts long time as well.

Keep on my kitchen windowsill, kitchen is west facing and water them each day when it's hot

Stick it on the windowsill and ignore it, when it looks a bit limp throw some water at it. Oh and turn it every day so it has to fight for life.

I currently have one that is about a month old. At a previous property I had a 1/2 glass kitchen door and windows either side, the coriander plant took over a windowsill by throwing out long tendril bits with seed on.

Before it throws off the seeds it does look a bit like it's changing in to a weed.
