That my neighbours have a DJ in their garden

Small cul de sac, 18th birthday party - they live in a tiny 2 bed house and have set up porta loos in the front garden and a marque that takes up their whole back garden.
This has been going on since 4pm, DJ arrived at 7pm (why they need a DJ with his crap music) in their tiny garden to blast out all over the area, God knows.
17 & 18 year olds rowdy and drunk and party still blaring, it's 10 past midnight and it doesn't look like it's coming to an end .
The parents didn't even notify the neighbours politely that this would be taking place tonight, which I think is really rude and anti social.
AIBU to wish I lived in a field in the middle of nowhere because me and the kids can't get to sleep Confused

Music stopped at 2am, drunk kids hung around the close until 4am. No nighttime noise pollution officers available to attend to ask them to shut the fuck up in the early hours. They only work office hours for the council - really useful.
Selfish twats, don't care if it's a one off - rent a venue, absolute cheapskates.
Grumpy, tired children today Hmm

That's bloody awful.

I'd give the council a ring tomorrow and get them to send a letter out warning them that what they did was anti social behavior!

We had it in the past with next door neighbor it was at the weekend went on nearly all night and we had a newborn in the house.

I phoned the council as soon as they opened on a Monday morning and they sent the letter out that day,so that neighbor was aware that they knew what had happened and they weren't pleased and it wasn't to happen again. It worked!

What you described is more than just a normal birthday party,DJ,Porta loos and lots of people hanging around in the street. The Police can act actually(DH Police Officer)they could remove the DJ's equipment, firstly they might ask him to move it inside and to turn it down,if he refused or was being awkward they would take the equipment away.

They would not be pleased about the Porta loos either and they would have dispersed the crowds that were in the streets. Then they would have left, but they would have had a couple of officers to check back round that area about 30 minutes later just to make sure it hadn't started up again.

They also sound like they were breaking health and safety laws.If the Police and Fire Department got wind that there were tons of people there they would not have been pleased.

If it happens again, it's not the police, but environmental health you call - they should have a noise team and should (my local area did) have 24 hour cover. They can attend with the police and they do have powers to seize stereo equipment.

Totally antisocial behaviour - even if it's one night a year, if everyone on your area has their one night a year no one would ever sleep!

For one day! this really is a get over yourself. It stopped at 2am and it was a responsible act to get a portaloo so there was no pissing all over the neighbourhood etc.

There really are some kill joys on this site and in your street arent there.

I would hate hate hate this! Its not even acceptable as a one off. Its plain rude and selfish.

One of my neighbours had a party with a live band in the garden last night. I am baffled as to how they managed to fit them into such a tiny space. What happened to hiring a venue? I presume it was a 50th birthday judging from the music (lots of terrible Jam covers). It would have been polite to warn people.

Well its all over now isnt it. I love to think that people celebrate events every now and again. I hate hate hate kill joys.
