  • If you price your sleepwear, I would have bought some today

  • If you keep floors clear of your stock, I would not have had to have kicked them aside. My hidden disability does not allow me to bend & pick them up. You had no shop floor staff to ask other than an icandy rep who refused to move them.

  • The Bubble Frog is £6 according to the 6 inch font which is on YOUR desk by YOUR till! Please do not charge us £12 & expect us not to notice

  • The lightweight paddling pool I pre-ordered is in a box measuring roughly 4" by 12" by 18" would fit in the basket of the pram. Why pack it in another box so big that it takes TWO members of your staff (when they do finally turn up to shop floor) to help me with it?

  • When you are asked to provide a gift receipt, it actually would be helpful if staff remebered to supply it so that we don't leave without it on the basis 'the till doesn't allow you once the transaction is complete'. NOTE: It wasnt complete - you hadn't issued the gift receipt & you needed to refund half my frog.

There are plenty of unemployed people that could do a better job in your stores......no disrespect to the hardworking ones that have common sense, but please take this into consideration.

I'm amazed Mothercare hasn't gone bust already. You can get better, cheaper, elsewhere and Mothercare stores are always a tip.

Cliffdiver · 03/07/2015 02:35

I've been visiting multiple Mothercare stores in the SE for >4years and never had a problem, service has always been friendly and helpful. Sorry you had a terrible experience(s) op.

StarlingMurmuration · 03/07/2015 06:45

OP, I'm sorry for bring a dick. I had surgery earlier this week and I was feeling fractious and in pain when I originally posted - I definitely shouldn't have been such a peevish arse.

Miaow they're the 2 I use and both fine IMO!

I wouldn't mind as a one-off but the fact 'management' have suggested in writing that the previous issues have been rectified just demonstrates they're clueless.

Seems to be more miss than hit with the chain of stores, going from posts on here.

Flowersto Starling.

I've always had brilliant customer service from Mothercare. Really helpful when my pram broke, when I was trying to track down a product and when we needed spare parts for our cotbed they sent them free of charge even though it had been discontinued for about 2 years.

Damnautocorrect · 03/07/2015 11:27

It's such a shame, the top management need to pass the passion, enthusiasm and joy for their products. Good staff come from good management.
You go into a jojomamanbebe, it's a bubble of cuteness, loveliness and helpful staff. Mothercare have a name 'my mum bought it', they need to follow that through with helpful enthusiastic staff, tidy store. Having a baby is a wonderful and exciting experience, the trip to mothercare should reflect that.

CommanderShepard · 03/07/2015 14:42

Oxford is shite, I agree. Routinely one person on the till while the rest bugger off and there's an enormous queue.

And apparently I'm completely unreasonable for refusing to give them my email address so they can "send me my receipt". I was buying emergency wet wipes!

FieldTrip · 03/07/2015 15:03

I got terrible service from them when I went in to buy maternity gear, then again when I was buying some bits for Ds before he was born. When it happened again when I was a stressed new mum, I vowed never to go back and I haven't. DS1 is 14yo now. Am Sad that my protest hasn't had any effect Grin

Housemum · 03/07/2015 15:30

It's a shame but I think Mothercare has really lost its way - I used to buy most of my maternity and baby stuff in there when expecting DD1, but that was 23 years ago when there was hardly anywhere else on the high street, and internet shopping didn't exist! Blooming Marvellous was around, but it just sold novelty tops which were not my thing and not suitable for work wear.

It has the potential to be an absolute goldmine, if they just had smarter stores, and went out of their way to be helpful. After all, babies are born all the time and nowadays there is the whole fashion thing around prams etc. Have some well-trained staff who really get enthusiastic about the subject. They don't have to be parents, but they need to be taught by parents to be able to understand the benefits of their products.

notfromstepford · 03/07/2015 15:43

I use the Nottingham one and find it fine. Buy our car seats from there because they price match and have a 2 year warranty which I've had to use when it broke after 14 months. No quibbles, no get out clauses, ordered me a new one and collected it a couple of days later.
They were happy to swap for a different one had I wanted it (as they didn't have it in stock) but as I had a spare one anyway, I didn't bother.
Very helpful staff and never had any problems with them.
