To complain to my bank about this?

I went into my bank middle of last week to do a few bits and to try and sort out a repeatedly failed DD.

The next morning my husband got a text message asking if he was happy with the service he received in branch.

I've just been back in this morning to complain my DH got notified that I had been into the bank, my relationship is fine, but what if you were trying to leave a relationship etc and your H knowing that you had been to the bank could be dangerous?

My DH thinks I'm being daft and that it isn't a big deal. To their credit, Lloyds took it very seriously and could see exactly the point I was trying to make.

So, was I overreacting?

Is it a joint account where he is the main name?

PurpleBananaPie · 30/06/2015 11:53

Depends, if it is a joint account then I think you are YABU. Do they even have both mobile numbers or just your husbands?

If it is an account in your sole name then YANBU.

SaucyJack · 30/06/2015 11:56

Hmm.

I assume it was a joint account? If we're talking in hypotheticals, then YABequallyU. It could just have easily alerted a financially abused spouse that their H/W was clearing out the account to blow the lot on coke.

But a) I hate those texts anyway and b) it's just plain silly to send them to a joint account holder that wasn't there.

SocksRock · 30/06/2015 12:19

It is a joint account, but I didn't think there was such a thing as the "main" account holder? We hold the account equally and are jointly liable for activity. They have my phone number, and I identified myself using my debit card and PIN number.

If it's a joint account Yab a bit u because it wasn't solely in your name, but they should've text you not your DH, so I'd be annoyed about that

fredfredgeorgejnr · 30/06/2015 12:32

Not even remotely U even if it's a joint account, their data protection systems are broken. It's an irrelevant breach, but a system that is broken in one way, is often broken in others as it shows a lack of care by the creators.
