All week Ive been battling an unbelievably painful tooth abscess, finally saw an emergency dentist Thursday and was put on super strong antibiotics. These are making me feel rubbish, I'm still in ridiculous pain, and today my period started. I've been on the verge of tears all day, after also a hellish week at work and children been so difficult all day. I want to sit in a corner, eat chocolate, drink wine and cry my eyes out. But instead we have a friend coming round for dinner, super excited at introducing his new girlfriend, so I've not the heart to cancel but sod it, aibu to get a take away.... ps I also look like a lopsided gerbil.... Sad

DH cooks, acquires a takeaway, or cancels. These are his options. In the circumstances you shouldn't have to do anything bar sit on the sofa and have someone bring you dinner.

Honestly OP, just go to bed and let your DH deal with your friends if he wants them round so much. It really wiped me out, i bet you feel awful. Im currently on a second course of metronidazole and amoxicillin as my infection is stubborn, and although the pain went quickly this time I still feel wiped out in general and have a dodgy stomach from the abs. It's not fun, and no way would your friend want you to grit your teeth and get through the evening if you're feeling awful.

Ignore your douche husband and cancel.
you sound miserable. Flowers
as a guest, i would not want to impinge on someone if i knew they needed a break. i would be happy to accept a cancellation in these circs.

Floggingmolly · 27/06/2015 20:18

Fgs cancel. Or if your DH insists on going ahead; just go to bed and leave them to it. It's not rude if you're feeling that ill. Harden up my arse Hmm

Yarp · 27/06/2015 20:31

why is your DH being such a git??

DunnTrying · 28/06/2015 06:17

Thanks all, I survived. No idea what was up with dh (the children have been particularly challenging all day-so probably a bit fed up?) but he did a bit of a u turn before they arrived and was back to normal, lovely self. Offered to cancel but I said go ahead. Feel wretched today but was sort of nice to have a distraction.

Glad to hear you survived it Dunn. Are your antibiotics making any difference?
