Its 2.48am and there is some kind of teenage party happening on our road.

Fucking screaming, shouting, chasing, giggling and the loudest fucking dj speakers!!!! I can't see exactly where they are but it sounds like at least 20/30 teens. I can hear every fucking lyric and bass and have done since 8pm when I struggled to get my ds to sleep.

I'm 7 mo pregnant and can't sleep for anyway so this is just off the scale, I'm absolutely fuming!!!!!!!!

I'm very tempted to run downstairs and throttle the lot of Them and smash the sound system to pieces. AIBU?

As a one off I would say can you grin and bear it if it is part of a regular chain of annoyance I would be creating a log.

Hope you have chance to nap today.

mum11970 · 27/06/2015 12:16

I'd put money on it being a post prom/roa party. Loads of ROA pics on my fb yesterday. Parents were probably well aware of it.

OddBoots · 27/06/2015 12:19

If this is a one off after-prom type party then I'd let it go unless they were actually being destructive.

They will have had their prom with all the teachers about and want somewhere to go after to enjoy themselves in a ore relaxed way and no traditional party venue would let 15-16yo teens do this.

Goshthatsspicy · 27/06/2015 12:23

"little shits"
That is okay is it?
Like it has been mentioned, it is probably an after proms party.
If so, they won't be much older than 16!
And it is a one off...

WhereTheFuckIsMyFuckingCoat · 27/06/2015 12:40

Usually the sort that have had to be warned by the police, take absolutely no notice at all, and necessitate another pointless waste of police resources for another call out, are, yes, behaving like little shits. 16yr olds who think nothing of ignoring police warnings and playing loud music outside at 03:00, while shouting and screaming are behaving like little shits.

Get earplugs. less stressful in the long run.

There was a hall near here and often loud thumping bass ringing out. But the revving of car engines and screeching brakes was worse.

Always have earplugs on hand. Am sure DCs could use them too if you cut them down a bit.

Call police if you are worried about vandalism, peeing in garden etc

lostoldlogin · 27/06/2015 12:48

Once again I am thankful for living in Spain. There was a street party outside my flat last night till 1am, parents, teenagers, little kids, everyone outside. Loud music, sharing food, dancing, kids playing and not one misery guts shuffling about in their slippers whining and going on about calling the police! OK 3am is a bit late but for christ's sake lighten up. They have all just finished their exams/high school. Let them have one night of fun, hm? Then suburban silence and drudgery can be joyfully resumed. Yawn.

And in Spain, on the whole, everything happens at a later time, mainly due to siesta. Dinner is eaten later, children go to bed later, as do adults. So your party until 01:00, wasn't comparatively as late as a uk party until 01:00, and certainly not on a par with screaming in the street with a sound system until 03:00.

lostoldlogin · 27/06/2015 12:59

People are not having siesta in Barcelona any more, really. People just are more laid back about noise. And anyway, my point still remains. One off party of teenagers? Let them have fun. You were young once.

Linskibinski · 27/06/2015 13:01

Just for info, it is an environmental health issue. It is rare police will attend. It is not a breach of the peace and the police have no powers to seize audio equipment. It is anti social and annoying but likely a one off. Kids are a pain in the arse. Police resources are massively stretched so these issues will be left more often than not down to the agencies responsible for dealing with it. I'm really sorry you had a crappy night it's horrible having your sleep disturbed. Rest today if you can. Flowers

WanderWomble · 27/06/2015 13:08

lostoldlogin,

Just deal with it, really? How about those people who have to be up early for work? There's absolutely no need for a party to run from 8pm until 3am!

Sisterelephant · 27/06/2015 13:10

I think its reasonable to have a party untill about 12/1am on a street in a residential area where there are lots of families, but way past 3am is taking the piss. We're talking over 20 teenagers so it sounds like a playground.

When the police came it all seemed to stop around 4am, surely that is an unreasonable time, I'm sure it would have carried on till late morning had they not had to have it shut off.

YABU anything after 1-2am is just not on

WhereTheFuckIsMyFuckingCoat · 27/06/2015 13:16

Linskibinski, which force do you work for? Because my force do have the power to seize sound equipment, I've been party to it many times.

'little shits' - disgusting, vulgar reference!

I have young children but as a one off wouldn't mind this.

WhereTheFuckIsMyFuckingCoat · 27/06/2015 13:23

I'm sorry. Fun loving little rogues. Hush my vulgar mouth. Hmm

At least I didn't call them little fuckers like another pp. God forbid.

jamdonut · 27/06/2015 14:06

Nobody would say dont have a party, but have res0ect for the rest of the neighbours. Why should people have to put up with noise at that time...whatever the reason for the party! And I don't believe I ever went to a party that was so loud the police needed calling when I was younger.
I don't understand why people condone this - , one- off or not, it's anti- social behaviour.

SlaggyIsland · 27/06/2015 14:13

I'd go so far as to describe some of the anti-social teens I've encountered as vile cunts. Little shits seems mild.

Goshthatsspicy · 27/06/2015 15:13

Nasty thread. We all like our sleep,l get that.
What harsh responses to people that aren't much more than kids themselves.
If it was an after prom type thing, it was probably one of the first times their parents have let them stay out.
If this happens regularly, then obviously what l'm saying is irrelevant.
My son had his on Wednesday. In a remote field though.

Mintyy · 27/06/2015 15:21

Yanbu. One off or not that party was a hideously antisocial and a really selfish thing to inflict on the neighbours.

Actual lols at someone trying to compare it to a family street party in fucking Spain!
