I was out earlier with a couple of acquaintances, just for a cuppa. I have posted before about one who I find very irritating. Actually neither is my cup of tea but I don't mind spending time with them now and again. They are very different from me, both take life pretty seriously and I just want to have a laugh. We know each other through a group we all attend.
Anyway, first lady pours out her green tea which is actually very yellow like wee wee and second lady commented on the colour, while first lady said something like "it's not what you think it is", or "it's not what it looks like". I chipped in with "no, because I just saw you pour it. First lady then gives me a bit of a glare and says "you'll put me off drinking it!"
This kind of thing pisses me off, I was only taking up on what she said and had she said nothing would have made no comment, I feel she was trying to make me feel a bit small. Whatever, I can't really be arsed with that kind of thing. I am all for a quiet life really.
I feel like texting to say something like "nice to see you both, I hope I didn't put you off your tea, I was only following up what you said, after all". I know it isn't worth it but would you bother?

In the wise words of Frozen Let it Go

Flossyfloof · 26/06/2015 18:56

Actually, maybe IWBU - so was I, and WWYD?
I know the answer is to ignore it really and I also know worse things happen at sea, Grin

I don't even understand what happened!

chewymeringue · 26/06/2015 18:57

Don't spend time with them, it sounds like you are ill suited to one another as friends.

scratchandsniff · 26/06/2015 18:59

Not worth the energy it'll take to type out that text. Forget about it. You're not that keen on them anyway.

scarlets · 26/06/2015 18:59

I think that the friendship with these two women has run its course.

cuntycowfacemonkey · 26/06/2015 19:00

Sounds like an odd exchange. Life's too short to spend time with people you don't like that much so I wouldn't bother texting and probably would give meeting up a miss tbh

Pedestriana · 26/06/2015 19:00

YABU for saying 'wee wee'

As for the rest, let them get on with it - I wouldn't bother texting. Sadly some people see to have very little sense of humour.

Next time you meet them, take a whoopee cushion!

YaTalkinToMe · 26/06/2015 19:04

In the circumstances you describe, not unreasonable. But at the time I would have given the reason for your comment.

BullshitS70 · 26/06/2015 19:04

You should have told them it looked like piss and walked out, never to see them again

Flossyfloof · 26/06/2015 19:07

Hahaha I knew someone would object to wee wee!
I know it's a stupid waste of time really, to see them and I do have little in common with them. I won't text, of course. With someone I felt easy with I would have said something jokey but they had both already fainted when I said "buggered" so I was trying to be on my best behaviour!

OP posts:
Flossyfloof · 26/06/2015 19:09

Wee wee lady sometimes texts and says do I fancy a cuppa, I almost invariably say something about being really really busy then feel guilty and end up saying yes.
Bullshit, too late now, but you are so right!

OP posts:
TrousersRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 26/06/2015 19:12

obviously a sense of humour mismatch, no harm done, but don't put yourself through another "fancy a cuppa?" situation with them!

Flossyfloof · 26/06/2015 19:16

Honestly I don't know why I do put myself through it, I am obviously wonderful company and too kind for my own good!
It is actually quite uncomfortable isn't it, when senses of humour just don't marry up?
Anyway they probably don't want to see me again because I swore. I really really wish I had said piss now.

WingsofNylon · 26/06/2015 19:27

I don't really see the problem with what she said. I think ypu are so adamant that you are different to these women that you are seeing things that aren't there. If they invite you they obviously do want you there and can't be as disapproving and you imagine.

You clearly aren't able to socialise with people that aren't just like you so stop bothering to go to tea with them.

PurpleSwift · 26/06/2015 19:29

This sounds like nothing. You're just incompatible as friends by the sounds of it

HoldYerWhist · 26/06/2015 19:36

Hang on, so lady says you'll put her off it cause it looks like piss? Is that all this is?!

Yeah, I don't think she didn't anything wrong! Nor did you. You're just different.

Flossyfloof · 26/06/2015 19:39

She said it wasn't what it looked like, (ie wee) , that was the first comment. Anyway thanks all I have got it out of my system and of course won't text.

OP posts:
TinyManticore · 26/06/2015 19:39

I would've said 'Hmm but you're the one who implied it looked like piss, how did I do anything to put you off it?'
Agree with diagnosis of incompatibility tbh.

Rainbunny · 26/06/2015 19:48

Well you don't like them and they think you're crude. It sounds like you'll all be happier to not continue spending time in each other's company. Just ease out of seeing them and let the acquaintanceship fade away.

KurriKurri · 26/06/2015 19:56

Don't text - you'll sound like 'crazy tea joke obsessed lady'.

But next time she says 'fancy a cuppa' tell her to wee wee off.

IHaveBrilloHair · 26/06/2015 19:58

You just don't have much in common and you don't enjoy spending time with them, so don't.
It's such a non issue.

elizadolittlechoc · 26/06/2015 20:05

Your reply made me LOL. Must meet for COFFEE sometime. You're just different people. Meet only when you are feeling 'straight'.

Pumpkinpositive · 26/06/2015 20:45

I feel like texting to say something like "nice to see you both, I hope I didn't put you off your tea, I was only following up what you said, after all".

Lol. Don't. Really don't.

CrapBag · 26/06/2015 21:49

"But next time she says 'fancy a cuppa' tell her to wee wee off."

Say this! Please Grin

Ditch them. Life is too short to spend time with people, you don't like.
