She must have been in a really tricky situation.

I know she deserves punishing but I'm not sure what good having her details in the national press will do.

I feel sorry for a person who has felt they needed to resort to this sort of thing and thinking they can get away from it. If true she was stealing from toy shops also, then obviously much less so.

Mrsjayy · 23/06/2015 22:05

Flogging coffee and cheese in the school playground was a thing when 1 of mine were in primary school these women took orders dont be fooled with the feeding her kids line she is a chancer and got caught

Moreshabbythanchic · 23/06/2015 22:06

Its people like her that forces supermarkets to put up prices for honest customers who pay for their goods, they may be poor too, they are the ones who deserve sympathy.

Samcro · 23/06/2015 22:07

yep lets feel story for a shop lifter stealing from a shop. who do you think picks up the tab?
\yep other shoppers.

WeAllHaveWings · 23/06/2015 22:15

The toys r us is in the DM article you didn't link to and in the local paper.

The court heard she had been given a 12-month conditional discharge for shoplifting just two weeks before the incident in Asda. During that crime spree, she had stolen children's toys from Toys R Us worth £170.

balletgirlmum · 23/06/2015 22:16

Two weeks before the Asda incident she was given a 12 month conditional discharge for another shoplifting incident.

Lorialet · 23/06/2015 22:18

So, not only did she do the one she got prosecuted for, she also did the same thing on the two previous days? Plus 2 weeks before that, she nicked £170 worth of stuff from Toys R Us? Yeah, I feel really sorry for her...

MrsGentlyBenevolent · 23/06/2015 22:31

It is not stated what this lady's personal circumstances are, obviously she felt the need to steal for some reason. She has been caught and punished as the court felt appropriate.

However, when I read the article this morning, a small part of me was a bit impressed. I mean, it was obvious a crime, very bad. But still, I did grin and think 'can't blame her for trying'! Bloody brass neck'd indeed Grin.

Mrsjayy · 23/06/2015 22:37

Actually you read the feeding her kids comments a lot in stories like this 1 their lawyer said ms x has 5 children in difficult circumstances its how they try and explain away stealing. There was 1 last year in my local paper she was breaking into sheds with 2 other men yet she had kids at home

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 23/06/2015 22:41

If she was using a sticker from a specific food item (bread) then why did the scanner not pick u the weight discrepancy?

Scan bread and put a pack of fishfingers on the bagging area?

Erm....

balletgirlmum · 23/06/2015 22:42

Because she was using a whoops sticker which over rides the weight thing according to the local paper.

Redglitter · 23/06/2015 22:42

No I don't feel in the slightest sorry for her. she's no better than a shoplifter.

Lots of people struggle financially but don't resort to stealing

She previously stole from Toys R Us what was her excuse then? Her children NEEDED £170 worth of toys?

UglyBugaz · 23/06/2015 22:45

I read that story this morning, I do agree that she isn't a criminal of a serious crime so doesn't deserve to be shamed like that. She must of been hard up to do that.

QueenBean · 23/06/2015 22:48

Great work for the paper on telling everyone how she did it, inevitably sparking a load of copycat thefts "look at how easy it is!"

I would feel bad for her if it was just essential food, but £170 of toys isnt essentials

mileend2bermondsey · 23/06/2015 22:49

So many people are out of touch with reality on here. She probably worked out she could nick her groceries and then use the cash she saved on luxury items. ffs not everyones a hard knock story.

DoraMarstellar · 23/06/2015 22:49

She's a thieving scumbag. She got caught. Oh dear. How sad. Never mind.

UglyBugaz · 23/06/2015 22:53

We don't know her circumstances, maybe her children were putting her under pressure to get certain toys, maybe her money got stolen, or maybe she was just stealing for no reason. Nobody knows her to know her side.

mileend2bermondsey · 23/06/2015 22:57

Oh god everyone has a tale of woe. I didn't get tonnes of presents I wanted as a kid, my mam didnt go out and nick them for me!

DoraMarstellar · 23/06/2015 22:57

Yes it's terribly difficult when your children put you under pressure to get them certain toys. If you can't afford them then there's no alternative to stealing them.

If only there was a way of getting across to children that they may not have everything they want. Some sort of word or phrase. Even a really short word - two letters even! - would potentially prevent so many people from being forced to resort to theft!

Radiatorvalves · 23/06/2015 23:03

YABVU OP.

hibbledibble · 23/06/2015 23:06

She's a thief.

No sympathy here.

pictish · 23/06/2015 23:13

I'm also a little bit impressed. What a wiley woman.
Keep your eye on your handbag when she's around though eh?

MidniteScribbler · 24/06/2015 09:51

She's a thief and I have no sympathy for her at all.

ChwatFeechers · 24/06/2015 09:55

None whatsoever. Thieving cow.
