parents refuse to pay for Christening cake because they think the ornamental bear looks like it has, in MN parlance, a fango.

Only on MN would a thread about a cake turn into a debate about grammar! Grin

It is a lovely cake, fouff and all. Seriously though. I hate the way everyone runs outraged to the press about things like this these days. Small businesses live and die by their reputation and it is arses like this who can ruin a reputation due to self serving greed.

McT123 · 21/06/2015 09:14

Quite correct - I retract and should learn not to post before morning coffee...

CatOfTheGreenGlades · 21/06/2015 09:15

We say front bum in this house. I would definitely think they looked like girl bears but I'd be happy – it's a girl's christening and it's nice that no one will assume the teddies are male as a default.

Re 70s bush, the bears are furry all over, as represented by the brown marzipan. Therefore they do have hairy muffs!

CatOfTheGreenGlades · 21/06/2015 09:17

But I think the cake looks great and very professional, notwithstanding bear fanjos. I'd say it was good publicity for the cake maker.

GeorgianaDevonshire · 21/06/2015 09:19

Jesus, McT, this is AIBU - don't you dare retract your statement!

That is true, they do seem to have dealt with it very professionally so maybe any publicity is good publicity.

clam · 21/06/2015 09:25

Agree. Bear looks like IT'S (as in IT HAS) got a vagina/vulva/pudenda/whatever the heck you want to call it.

And sunny is wrong! Grin

This thread is just SO Mumsnet!

Northernlurker · 21/06/2015 09:42

I saw this story yesterday and what I took away from it was 'wow that shop do a lovely cake like that for £60!' Good price.
They'll be better off for this. Fwiw I think they left those seams deliberately short to torment the purchaser who strikes me as the sort of person who has no trouble at all getting up a person's nose.

Pangurban · 21/06/2015 10:56

People are helpless sometimes. Just smooth it over with spoon, palette knife etc.

blueshoes · 21/06/2015 11:36

lol at sashh's cake. Are they from the same shop?

Looks like the bear is dry humping the top layer of the cake and the elephant is well placed for some oral sex.

sashh · 21/06/2015 13:30

Blueshoes yes it is, but you and I seem to be the only ones to notice.
