Today was my uncles funeral my sister didnt go because she came off sleepover fair enough I thought she then checked into lunch then the cinema with the girls I am bloody raging with her acting like a 33yr old woman child and letting me do all the family stuff I am a stepchild so always feel a bit awkward with my stepdads family (even though they are lovely) all I have heard all day is oh thought X would be here and my mum saying oh she was nightshift . I am maybe BU its so annoying though

I won't be attending DH's great-uncle's funeral. He's welcome to go himself, of course, and he understands why I'm not too. I shall feel completely free to use Facebook however I like that day.

Yeah she was working handsover at 10 when i picked my parents up she was going to bed then checked in 45 minutes later so must have been a catnap

Of course YANBU. It's fine to say "she didn't have to go" but if she didn't feel a responsibility to go and at least support other family members she could have been upfront and said "I have better plans". Lying about it clearly shows she felt she should have been there but couldn't be bothered so made up an excuse.

DisappointedOne but will you be lying about your reasons for not attending? That's the crucial point. If your family would appreciate your support, you lie about not being able to attend then post on fb about your other plans surely that makes you a fairly unpleasant person?

Also your DH's great uncle is different from an uncle.
