To think that whoever was ib charge of my bellybutton at birth should of done a better job

I'm guilty of name changing for this. I could possibly be aware of how U I'm being.
My issue is as such ; I'm currently heavily pregnant, and my belly button is at the stage where it sticks out and catches on EVERYTHING. I've seriously considered sticking it down with a plaster bought a box in £land but didn't follow through because DH laughing about it angered me so much I got distracted and now I cant find them because I think DD has put them in the same place she's put her last 3 toothbrushes
Anyway, I was just thinking to myself that surely when I was born they could of maybe trimmed it down a bit more before putting the clamp on? Just so that it wouldn't stick out so much in later life if I was to get pregnant. I mean, if you see pregnant women all the tine, surely you'd think of these things and do the next generation of mothers a solid?!
Phew, that feels better. Now back to glaring at the offending 2cm of body.

Hang on a mo, if it was an innie and is now an outie, how could have it been the fault of the medical staff?

DayLillie · 19/06/2015 16:33

I have stretch marks in mine. Grin

I feel your pain. I'm 33 weeks with DC3 and the little fecker has given me an umbilical hernia. So I have what looks like a very sticky out belly button surrounded by a doughnut Confused.

RatOnnaStick · 19/06/2015 16:37

DS1's innie is beautiful. Even the midwife commented on how neat and tidy it was. DS2's is an odd mixture of innie at the bottom and outie at the top giving it the effect of a tongue hanging out Smile

Isetan.. I just thought the medical staff could of trimmed it down a tad before it became an innie or something so that there would be less to poke out. I wasn't asking for anything unreasonable Hmm

Mine did that. It got really stretched and painful.

i used to put a plaster on it, or a nipple cover, but it still used to rise up!

Yarp · 19/06/2015 18:01

Mine was an innie before, now it's a halfie

Hippymama1 · 19/06/2015 18:37

Mine was an innie but now at 38 weeks it is a flattie / has disappeared... I hope it comes back... It's a bit disconcerting!

My mother had a friend who was a very tiny woman, about 4 ft 8, who therefore couldnt help but get HUGELY pregnant. The skin side of her belly button seperated from the inner bit, the muscle wall. They had to stitch the layers back together after she gave birth. She had 3 more kids, i dont know if it happened every time.

PotteringAlong · 19/06/2015 18:40

At least it will be clean as years of fluff will have popped out too Grin

NoStannisNo · 19/06/2015 19:00

My belly button never fully flattened or popped out when I was pregnant. It very very nearly did, but it clung on for dear life as if it was saying 'I will not surrender' and just about stayed an innie!

Potteringalong. Every cloud and all that eh! So nice to know I'm not the only one!
