To ask if your child locked them self in bathroom would you call fire service out? i would not as i think its a waste of their services. just kick the door down. Can fire services refuse to attend if they think its wasted service/they are not really needed?

My poor mother was stuck in the bathroom for almost 8 hours. She was in the downstairs toilet. My lazy arse brothers all wake up late so had no idea, eventually my younger brother could hear banging and came down to discover my mums locked in the bathroom. The door completely jammed that you couldn't open it all from the outside. They tried breaking the door down with no luck, heavy fire doors. They didn't even think to call the fire brigade. Eventually they had to when they were unable to do anything else, fire brigade had to cut the door open

So yes I would if all else fails.

I remember a little boy who was 3 being locked in the bathroom where I used to work, someone climbed up a ladder and looking through the window was able to talk him through unlocking the door.

Dd2 trapped herself in her bedroom when she was about 14 by slamming or kicking (can't remember now) the door in a temper. It totally jammed in the frame and I couldn't budge it from the outside. Plus it was about 1am, I'm a single parent, and dd has a history of self harm and was beginning to panic.
I called the fire service although not on 999 I don't think and they were here really quickly. A couple of shoves from a hefty fireman and it was open, albeit off its hinges.
