To be annoyed by smoking in a children's park?

Took my 5yo godson to a children's play park this afternoon. 1 other family there with their 2 DC. Pushing my godson on the swing set, the man with his two children came over to push his DC next to me and lit up a cigarette and stood there smoking it. I was Shock and said loudly to my DP we had to go to the other area in the park as we were being smoked on!

DP was horrified that I had said it loud enough for the man to hear.

being smoked on Grin

I have an image of someone deliberately blowing smoke directly into your mouth.

God, I hate PA comments like that. Just ask them.

Worra I was wondering that. Just smacks of trying to embarrass the person.

WorraLiberty · 18/06/2015 15:19

Dropping litter is also inappropriate, as is swigging from a bottle of cider.

There's just no need to be loud when you're asking the person next to you, if they can stop doing something.

"Smokes-a-lot-lady blew smoke directly into my mouth!"

LashesandLipstick · 18/06/2015 15:21

Worra, and if you do either of those things I'd also ask you to stop it and behave appropriately. I don't know why people think it's acceptable to be disrespectful in public and have no one say anything!

WoonerismSpit · 18/06/2015 15:22

You can say things lashes, of course. But why loudly?

LashesandLipstick · 18/06/2015 15:23

Because I feel that people shouldn't be doing it at all so I shouldn't have to be "policing" them. It just irritates me that people think it's okay to be inconsiderate.

WorraLiberty · 18/06/2015 15:23

Yes but would you ask me 'loudly' Lashes if I was standing next to you?

LashesandLipstick · 18/06/2015 15:24

I wouldn't shout worra, but I would probably have an annoyed tone.

Shakey1500 · 18/06/2015 15:25

There is no conceivable reason to "ask loudly" if someone's right next to you. Unless you think they may be hard of hearing. Or you think they don't understand your language and therefor speak LOUDLY and S L O W L Y.

Or you think it adds extra credence to your (g) outrage.
