..take my friggin rubbish out EVERY time or, preferably, NOT AT ALL.

I have never asked him to do it. But he does. Irregularly. He's clearly just being kind, so I don't want to upset him by telling him to stop, but it's REALLY annoying when he's done it for 3 weeks, but then the morning I am late, and it is bin day, HE DOESN'T.
Or, he doesn't do it it for a bit, and when I whip out of the front door in my underwear PJs to stick something in the bin, he has taken them all to the pavement.

First world problems folks, but AIBU?

Yes. Hth

Justmuddlingalong · 15/06/2015 21:21

Do you ever take his rubbish bin out?

Wideopenspace · 15/06/2015 21:21

Why so, gin?

OP posts:
Wideopenspace · 15/06/2015 21:22

No, I don't ever take his rubbish out. Should I? Fuck, have I missed some sort of etiquette thing?

OP posts:
Justmuddlingalong · 15/06/2015 21:24

He takes yours out, but only sometimes. You take his out never. YABU.

bippityboppitypoo · 15/06/2015 21:24

It's your bin, you should always assume that you have to take it out.

Wideopenspace · 15/06/2015 21:25

But I don't understand why everyone can't just take their own rubbish out!

This is not arranged. He just randomly does it.

OP posts:
msgrinch · 15/06/2015 21:26

Err take your own rubbish out? like a normal grown up.

EvansOvalPiesYumYum · 15/06/2015 21:26

Maybe he's noticed that some mornings you are late putting your bins out, so he's trying to be helpful. That's called 'being a nice neighbour'

YABU

Put his out from time to time.

ashtrayheart · 15/06/2015 21:26

Put it out the night before?

Wideopenspace · 15/06/2015 21:26

That IS my assumption bippity - until I get lulled into it being done for a few weeks.

I just don't understand his system.

OP posts:
Wideopenspace · 15/06/2015 21:27

Ashtray, sometimes HE puts it out the night before.

OP posts:
Starlightbright1 · 15/06/2015 21:27

I am guessing he is either been kind or sick of bags of rubbish outside your door?

TiggieBoo · 15/06/2015 21:27

I wish I had your problem. No one ever takes my rubbish out, the lazy bastards. Just once in a while would be nice, but no, they just can't be arsed.

Wideopenspace · 15/06/2015 21:29

I don't HAVE bags of rubbish. I have a bin, a recycling box and a food box. All very neat.

I know he is being kind, which is why I just let him get on with it.

I just don't understand the system..

OP posts:
AdventureBe · 15/06/2015 21:29

I get it OP.

If you were always responsible for your own bin, you'd have a routine and get it done and you'd know where it was when you needed it. He's being nice but it's not helpful to not reliably know where your bin is.

I have no idea how you could change it without causing great offence though.

Wideopenspace · 15/06/2015 21:30

Yes. That's exactly it Adventure

OP posts:
dinoswore · 15/06/2015 21:30

Yabu. He is trying to be kind.

I do sort of understand though. My neighbour takes out and returns my bin every week, and I have become so used to it that bin day has fallen out of my consciousness. So now I am totally reliant on my neighbour to do it, which seems unfair on him and makes me feel a bit useless into the bargain (newly single Mum trying to prove to myself I can do it all by myself).

AdventureBe · 15/06/2015 21:31

"Put it out the night before?" Shock Shock Shock

No, that's not allowed, the foxes get it and make a terrible mess. You can be fined here for putting the rubbish out too early.

icelollycraving · 15/06/2015 21:31

I put my neighbour's bins back sometimes, not always. It's nice to be helpful.

Justmuddlingalong · 15/06/2015 21:31

He probably doesn't put your's out now and again to see if you will do it yourself and reciprocate his neighbourly kindness, by putting his out too. When you fail to do that, he continues to put your bin out. Until you are running late. This is his revenge and he will probably be sniggering behind his curtains.

Wideopenspace · 15/06/2015 21:34

But I live in a terrace Just..where do I draw the line?

And how the actual fuck does he know I am running late? It isn't externally apparent until I appear outside the door chivvying child into car. You thing he's bugged my house?

OP posts:
Eigg · 15/06/2015 21:34

Just assume that it's your job to do it every week (as it is) then any time your lovely, lovely neighbour does it, it will be a nice bonus.

I hope you get him a superior Christmas minding.

Wideopenspace · 15/06/2015 21:35

I got him no Christmas minding. I got him a lovely childmade card and some wine though..

TwinkieTwinkle · 15/06/2015 21:37

I really can't understand why you would even question if you are being unreasonable. It is so obvious that you are. Hmm
