I rarely get the chance to lie on of a morning, so today I didn't get up until 11 Smile I dosed, I read I dosed some more and I loved every last second of it.

My aunt is just finished telling me that I've wasted half my day and think of all the things I could have been doing, I told her I'd been dreaming of them and was thinking of just going back to bed till 1 Wink

Surely this a great way to spend a SC DP free rainy Saturday? Smile I will return to the real world soon but for now I am reminiscing my student days, and loving it. Is this UR

Your aunt sounds like my parents.

I'm sure they would have stopped going to bed at all if they could. My dad used to get up at 4 BELLOWING about how glorious getting up early is and then fall asleep at 7 Hmm

I prefer an early night to a lie in - ie savouring time when I've done what I need to do in a day.

StackladysMorphicResonator · 13/06/2015 21:46

YADNBU! Lie-ins are fantastic for re-charging batteries and really enjoyable!

Talismania · 13/06/2015 21:53

YAnbu. Lie ins are great and I have one every Saturday. Why not!

I get up early every other day and I don't feel I miss out on anything on my lie in days by not having the extra hours in the mornings.

SanityClause · 13/06/2015 21:54

I used to work with someone who felt that if she didn't lie in until 2pm on a Sunday, it was a waste of the day! (She had no DC.)

DH has an energetic hobby. Lots of people tell me how impressive it is. I don't think his leisure time activity is any more worthy than mine, which consists of lying in bed doing the crossword, or reading a book. (He's not a volunteer for Medicins Sans Frontieres or anything.)

Scholes34 · 13/06/2015 21:54

Horses for courses - I always feel a lie in has eaten into my day.

sideshowbob2 · 13/06/2015 21:55

i was awake early so had an afternoon nap instead, had a lovely 3hours re-charge!!
sometimes i prefer an afternoon nap more than a lay in, as it means i've done all my chores in the morning that i need to do!

goldopals · 13/06/2015 21:58

Sounds amazing but I too have lost the ability to sleep in past 6:30 and I am in my twenties!

fiveacres · 13/06/2015 21:59

God, me too gold and it's annoying! I WANT to lie in but am pregnant and can't!

namechangefortoday543 · 13/06/2015 22:00

I love a lie in. Bliss.
My DP don't - they get up at the crack of dawn, mither on about it and then fall asleep on the sofa at 7pm every evening -Grin
They are immensely grumpy after 4pm !

merrymouse · 13/06/2015 22:01

I bet your aunt has more opportunities to do nothing all day than you do.

travertine · 13/06/2015 22:03

It's my day off tomorrow I will probably not get up til eleven. My dp thinks it's awful as he is always up early. Fails to see how him falling asleep for three hours on the sofa on a Sunday afternoon can be compared!

Leggytadpole · 13/06/2015 22:22

Sounds lush OP. I love a lie in, especially on a gloomy day when you can hear the rain outside!

PeppermintCrayon · 14/06/2015 00:47

I hate the "wasting the day" brigade. YANBU!!!!

Jessicalovessunshine · 14/06/2015 05:39

A long lie in is certainly not a waste. Enjoy EVERY second of it!

Frenchmustard7 · 14/06/2015 05:51

I'm on the fence. The morning is my most productive time. However if shattered and run down, what could be more productive then a proper refreshing sleepin?

SomewhereIBelong · 14/06/2015 07:59

I relish the 2 hours of silent solitude I gain when my family have a lie in.... I positively wallow in it, it refreshes my brain and generally pleases me so much I am glad my family are lie-inners. Their lie in certainly does not waste my day!

DD14 has a music theory exam next weekend - extra lesson this morning at 9.30, on a Sunday - you should have heard the commotion that caused round here...
