Aibu to think the make up artists have lost the plot and we should not be teaching young girls that this is the nirm

The blonde presenter looks like she is wearing a mask - is this really what we want to teach preteens is normal? Even the Blue peter presenter often has a full on going out at night face and is lippytastic.

I love my makeup and rarely leave the house without it but look nothing like them!

Their face, their choice. Yes, this might be showing the kids one thing, but it is YOUR JOB as parent to teach them about the whole spectrum, and that they are allowed to find their place on it.

Or, in the case of makeup, their numerous places on the spectrum according to occasion. Being on television is an occasion where I would wear makeup.

Time and a place, and all that.

I trowel the stuff on just to go to work - I teach 6th form and there's nothing that makes you feel wrinkly and imperfect than standing in front of 17 year old girls all day. Can't imagine how much make up I would need just to go on TV Grin

I remember seeing a picture of Konnie Huq a few years a go now and how bad she looked compared to her BP days- because she was caked in makeup. Not had any detrimental effect on me- I wear makeup now but i've only really just started becoming obsessive about it in the last few months and i'm 22.

PS OP- nobody likes a hypocrite Wink
