To not 'get' Audrey Hepburn?

That chocolate ad has just been on and it got me thinking...I just don't get her appeal. I know she did fantastic work when older, I'm talking about when she was a film star and everyone seemed to think she was sooooo incredible. I don't get it - but I'm aware it's a subjective opinion - all I see is an annoying, simpering girly girl who also happens to look good in a frock.

I await my flaming from Audrey fans Grin

Could you tell us your source for this, Aermingers? I know anybody can put anything on the internet and celeb biogs are not always reliable, but your version of AH's life is at odds with the Wikipedia article, for one.

Well quite, i've just read that her parents had split up and she went to The Netherlands to live with her mother and that her brother was a prisoner in a labour camp so not sure how accurate any information is.

I feel you . I know this post is a bit old but since "everyone" most ,I would say know who was Audrey Hepburn I think this is still relevant. I think it was more about being iconic ,personality factor yes she had this je ne sais quoi appeal which would attract even interesting and handsome men. Altough she was not the most beautiful girl in the corner she had a wow factor and great sense of fashion, she did also humanitarian works and seemed kind ,anyway by the way she carried herself and by her own quotes. I don't know much about her truthfully nor read any Books about her life but looks wise I don't think it was beauty, more like very elfin charme, I think she had nice eyes tough but I don't consider her to be a great or striking beauty. Her face was not devoid of flaws I think Grace Kelly was a beautiful woman or give me Ava Gardner.

NanaBoudoir · 07/04/2023 23:14

Yes I heard that too...she was clever,doubtless

NanaBoudoir · 07/04/2023 23:32

Both iconic .
But let's be honest... Just my opinion
Brunettes : Ava Gardner,Liz Taylor
Blondes: Grace Kelly and this chick from Hitchcock movie's The Birds: Tippi Hedren

If you actually talk about beauty not sexiness nor whatever

I like how there was variety in looks and bodyshapes in the golden era. It's all clones now

Did you really revive a 7 year old thread to slag off Audrey Hepburn’s looks…?

MrsMarkieParkie · 07/04/2023 23:40

Ok. Do I out myself? I had a small role in one of her biggest films 1960s. Im still in love.

NanaBoudoir · 08/04/2023 00:01

Did you read my whole post? I stated that she had many qualities including charm,it's just that i think she is way overrated looks wise and i'm on my own right to think so. Just because someone is well liked by the majority does not mean I have to agree on everything.
