Aibu to be super proud of ds?

I know it's not nice to boast, but I really want to sing my ds's praises.

He is in year 9, and doing his Duke of Edinburgh bronze award. When he left primary school, he was disappointed in not passing his 11+ and had very low confidence.

However, since joining the local secondary boys school, he has come on leaps and bounds and his confidence has grown immensely.

As part of his D of E, he has to volunteer in the community, and we struggled to find a place for him to do so.

He ended up volunteering in his old primary school, which my other dc attend, in an after school club aimed at those struggling with Maths and English. It ran for the lead up to the SATS tests for a couple of terms.

My ds assisted the teacher with a couple of pupils who were struggling with Maths. Now ds has really exceeded himself at secondary school in Maths and felt really comfortable supporting these primary pupils with areas they found challenging. He received good feed back from the teacher as he has shown a great deal of patience and even went in for extra hours to help these pupils on a one to one basis.

Sorry for rambling, but when picking up my dc from school yesterday, one of the mother's of the children ds has been helping approached me to ask me to thank my son. As for the first time their child has completed a maths test with great results! And that apparently my ds had a way of explaining things that their child grasped easily.

I'm just so proud of him, as he is quite shy and after seeing a knock to his confidence this has been great for him.

You boast away, he sounds lovely.

How lovely, year 9 can be a tricky year too, I found. Well done DS!

May I use your thread to squeeze in a tiny boast about my same age DD who successfully obtained a place on a weekend course for a subject she loves. Not only did she manage to get a place (50 DC competing for each place), she has SN and I know it would have been "easier" for the organisers not to allocate her a place, so it was a real, but lovely, surprise. They gave her a uniform which she has been wearing at home too as she is so excited

Ooh you've made me cry OP! Grin Bless his heart. Well done DS. As the Mother of a DD who struggled with confidence I totally know how much these things mean.

That's lovely. He's made a real difference to a child, what a great achievement.

Great news OP - huge congratulations to your DS who sounds like an absolute Star. Also, well done to your DD noisnot - hope she enjoys her course. These Flowers are for her.
