neighbours that plant huge trees that steal a view deserve for it to get a parasite

My house has stood for over 85 years. Yet only in the last few years is the view being taken away by a new build in tjr 90s that's planted some trees. Getting very bushy and in a few years will totally of taken away the view.

Aibu to think this is rude and unthoughtful?

There's already 3m hedge so these trees provide no more privacy.

I poured some brushwood killer all over the base and its done nothing.

Could saw through in a couple of mins but obviously I could get sewed. However seems unfair that they can devalue my house and I cant sue them.

Yes I know legally its OK, its just annoying.

Would be a civil case if it was to die?

Can you get pet beavers in the uk? Would pay for up to 3k.

Or can I snap off the higher branches that overhand my side hoping that they break near the base?

What you have to remember is that screening works in both directions.
A friend of mine is growing trees at the side of her garden that her neighbour dislikes because they are casting shade across his garden where his children play.
The trees are actually being grown to hide the neighbours huge ugly play equipment and reduce the sound of the kids' screaming.

I'm on the side of the tree grower. My neighbours are arseholes, so I have planted a hawthorn/blackthorn/wild rose hedge all along their side and I fully intend to not prune it and let it get to an epic height. They are extremely ugly and I don't want to look at them.

I have also planted a shitload of fruit trees - again not just to have privacy in my own garden but so I can eat loads of almost free fruit. That I happen to have planted them also all along that side is a bit... unfortunate. But again, no need to look at their seriously fugly faces even if I can still hear their voices. I'm working on finding a soundproofing tree variety. ;o)

Maybe OP just has a face the neighbours want to block out? Consider it from their POV. Assuming with the tree, they still have a POV.

It may be considered a hedge, and you can get the council in to investigate. But it's not a case that all hedges need to be kept to 2m tall, that is only when they will look into it. As Collaborate said, you have no rights to a view.

(And whilst you are coming across rather bitter, I do agree with your dislike of such trees. I think that in general domestic gardens tall conifers should be banned. I hate them. They're not even very good for biodiversity.)

Yes, I cut down a hideous leylandi hedge I had hated for years, planted by previous tenant, and then my nice neighbours moved house to be replaced by the worst neighbours I have ever had in my life. Wish I'd left the leylandi.
