My sister's birthday party is in Vegas and I don't want to tell my husband that I'm going.i told him 2 months ago and he said "no" I really want to go . I don't go out often , actually never. I'm thinking to go and leave my children with my mother for the weekend. I will give him the option of picking them up at my Mom's when he wants to. I will leave on Friday and come back Sunday. This is a girls weekend get away because of her 40ths birthday. My sister is coming from another country. I just want to leave a note for him and leave. What should I do ?

USA, yes. He will be a monster or may be not. Dr. Phill says that" stop giving controlling men the reassurance" .

I would just tell him I am going and it is not up for discussion.

If he made a point of trying to ruin it for me, I would also not be coming back.

I agreed that he shouldn't control you but if you don't tell him and sneak about then he is still controlling the situation.

I'd tell him that you're going, your sister is paying and the children will be looked after by your Mum. He can either be okay with it or not but at least not call you a liar.

And keep your I.D and travel documents safely somewhere so he can't hide them.

How about going to Reno instead? (and divorce the controlling fuckwad)

You're not the OP........ Or are you?

Are you from the US, OP? You post as though English is not your first language. If I were you, I'd go to Vegas and then not go back home; your husband sounds like a controlling jerk.
