The game where you have a price of paper and two pens. Teenage Internet fad but it moves to yes. Shock

We love a good oiugi session. The funniest was our 15 year old dd asking a so called spirit to tell her who sits behind her at school.

Like you would travel all the way from the spirit world to answer stuff like that.

We had to send them all to the local c of e school so they were used to people spouting bollicks.Grin

Tonberry · 02/06/2015 23:16

If you were an all powerful Mexican demon, why would you spend all your time moving pencils a couple.of centimetres and only answering yes or no questions?

SistersofPercy · 02/06/2015 23:23

My mother's dog is called Charlie, he is demonic. He's from Holmes Chapel though so not quite Mexican.

Leafitout · 02/06/2015 23:45

My ds did this Charlie thing yesterday evening and I went along with it thinking that he had caught some sort of Britains got Talent magician bug! So glad I am now in the know and he will not be doing it again. Makes sense now that he wanted to kip in with me, he tried to come across as being scared of noises under his bed!

Dawndonnaagain · 03/06/2015 07:59

Is it done with the candles? If so, then of course the pencil on top is going to move. Scientific, init.

Tonberry · 03/06/2015 08:04

I can't remember the name of it. The something-beginning-with-A effect.

OstentatiousBreastfeeder · 03/06/2015 09:48

Wouldn't he be the powerful demon Carlitos? Or is Charlie an expat?

KittiesInsane · 03/06/2015 09:55

Having just failed to make one pencil stay on the top of the other, I think we're looking at unstable equilibrium here, AKA 'things wobble'.

KittiesInsane · 03/06/2015 09:57

I have now found two pencils that sit there, nicely balanced, without moving at all.

Crap demons we have in this house.

cuddingandpustard · 03/06/2015 13:02

Ouija boards move because of the ideomotor effect, I don't know what the Charlie thing is but I presume it's the same thing

Piratejones · 03/06/2015 14:54

In life Charlie was a telemarketer and now in death this is his own personal hell.

leftyloosy · 03/06/2015 15:02

All the kids at my school have been doing this. Drives me mad, I've threatened detention if see anyone wasting time on it in lessons.

Orrla · 03/06/2015 16:22

Anyone fancy describing what this game is about and how its done?

MileyVirus · 03/06/2015 17:09

Orrla its involves 4 sides Yes opposite to yes and no opposite to no and two pencils. You say Charlie charlie can we play? The pencil spins to yes and then you ask additional questions.

OP posts:
MileyVirus · 03/06/2015 17:11

Orrla two pencils balanced in a cross and yes and no diagonal on each side. You say Charlie charlie can we play and the top pencil spins to yes. You can then ask additional questions.

OP posts:
cuddingandpustard · 03/06/2015 17:14

Oh so it can't be the ideomotor effect since nobody touches the pencils. Could it be people blowing/breathing on them and causing them to spin/move?

MileyVirus · 03/06/2015 17:18

It's gravity.

cuddingandpustard · 03/06/2015 17:26

Two pens set up here and so far sweet FA has happened

Piratejones · 03/06/2015 17:32

Works better if you have a window open Cudding.

Lizzylou · 03/06/2015 17:36

Oh God, the kids at my school are all doing this.
Some of them are very spooked by it.

ravenAK · 03/06/2015 17:43

My year 7 tutor group are obsessed with it, bless 'em.

misskatamari · 03/06/2015 17:43

Ugh our kids are doing this too. Apparently there were girls crying in a year 8 art lesson over it! It's flipping annoying!

Wideopenspace · 03/06/2015 17:47

Yeah kids at my school too. Quite why the bloody hell parents are encouraging it rather than saying 'it's tosh, go do something else' I don't know...

GlitzAndGigglesx · 03/06/2015 17:48

If I'm going to summon a demon I'd rather he did more than move pencils. Not very impressive imo
