This behaviour seems to be typical of modern day footballers. Can't stand the bastards!

Racist, sexist morons. Role models my arse!!!

SumThucker · 01/06/2015 00:20

I don't think its typical of modern day footballers, to be honest.
Horrible, degrading bastards the ones involved in this, though.

WorraLiberty · 01/06/2015 00:25

Right, but when you say 'Can't stand the bastards' you are talking about the particular bastards in this story aren't you? And also some other male footballers who have also acted like bastards in the past?

I just want to clarify because the way your comments read, it's as though it's a nasty generalisation of all male footballers.

IrishDad79 · 01/06/2015 00:45

Let's face it, incidents like this are not exactly isolated amongst professional footballers. Pro footballers have always struck me as basically little kids that have never had to grow up and live in the real world.

Bambambini · 01/06/2015 01:39

Think I'm more shocked that they were stupid enough to film it and let it out rather than their horrible behaviour, TBH.

What a bunch of idiots!

wennlock · 01/06/2015 01:50

WorraLiberty Yes I'm talking about these morons in particular. But there's no denying that footballers in general are more likely to engage in twatish sexist behaviour. You don't see Tennis/Rugby/Athletics etc behaving like this, or at least no where near as frequently.

justabigdisco · 01/06/2015 01:57

I don't really want to watch it, can someone summarise?

fancyanotherfez · 01/06/2015 02:22

Yes it does seem to be footballers. I think it might be that if you are a good footballer as a child, you aren't really encouraged to further your education by clubs. Your life is football, so you end up being educationally and emotionally stunted, then if you are successful you have ridiculous sums of money thrown at you. The whole game is rotten, IMO. I used to love football, but I actively show no interest in it now and don't want my sons being involved in it at all. I don't want them to see footballers as role models or anything to aspire to.

Andrewofgg · 01/06/2015 04:20

Could it be that a footballer not behaving like this just would not make the news?

Read all about it! City striker faithful to his OH and considerate to everybody else!

Hoppityhippityhop · 01/06/2015 07:28

I think that the extraordinary amount of money young men can be paid to play football can turn their heads. It sets them so far apart from ordinary people that sometimes it must make them feel that they don't have to follow any of society's rules. Some of these young men are so unimaginably rich I can see why they could end up feeling special.

Add to that the way they are treated by their clubs. I've read in the past that clubs manage every mundane aspect of players' lives so they can just live for football. I read about one player who, when he retired (so late 30s, early 40s), realised he didn't know how to make a dentist appointment or organise a gas supplier because his club had always done it for him. More recently, in the last couple of weeks, a premiership player was stopped or speeding on a motorway in his super car. His response to the police was to tell them to contact his club and it would sort out the paper work.

I don't agree with the behaviour, I think it's a disgrace. I think the money sloshing around football is obscene and I hate the way we are all supposed to worship the game, the clubs and the players.

DosDuchas · 01/06/2015 07:30

I came on to see what the trigger was

Goandplay · 01/06/2015 07:44

I hope the girls were laughing at them in their language.

Vile.

Spadequeen · 01/06/2015 07:50

I've heard from several places that this kind of behaviour is really not unusual at all in football.

Used to love football, absolutely loathe it now, and everything it stands for.

Unthoughtknown · 01/06/2015 07:56

I hate this behaviour as much as the next person, but the whole 'hate the sport, wouldn't want any child of mine involved in it' sentiment is a bit off. Would people rather their dcs play rugby what with the risk of severe head injury and frequent concussion?

EEVEElution · 01/06/2015 07:56

I don't really understand what I'm watching there - find their accents pretty hard to understand and can't hear what the women are saying at all? It sounds like they're asking someone to give them a BJ or something?

Wishful80smontage · 01/06/2015 07:58

Sickening behaviour. Unfortunately they will get away with it- the club has sent them home now 'as punishment' from their Thai tournament but after busy season that's probably a welcome break! They'll get their wages docked for a time but whats a bit of money to them really?
Happens time and time again - and on top on that- and even after all the time, money and effort spent on the 'kick it out' campaign you've got them making racist comments throughout.

AldiQ7 · 01/06/2015 07:59

I agree that football does seem to attract a particular breed of Arsehole, much more so than any other sport.

Pipistrella · 01/06/2015 08:11

Got through about 10 seconds of that before I had to stop it.

Wankers ought to be - I don't know what. castrated perhaps. I don't honestly think that is the answer but I don't know what is and their behaviour makes me feel violent.

What IS going to be done to them?

Bambambini · 01/06/2015 08:13

I think quite a lot of young men would behave like this on a jolly to Thailand TBH. Don't be too sure our sons wouodnt do it.

The total disrespect and comments etc towards the girls is horrible though.

I also don't buy that Rugby players are too intelligent and moral to act like this.

Pipistrella · 01/06/2015 08:13

jUSTA - don't. It's a group of lads in a room with some girls in another country and you can't see much but you can hear them saying 'lick it! Go on lick it, slit eye' and laughing at the girls and calling them f*ing minging, and stuff like that.

Really sickening and shocking. Not sure what happens after that.

SoupDragon · 01/06/2015 08:15

I do wonder why you felt you have to joine Mn/name change to post this.

Bambambini · 01/06/2015 08:15

I don't know why they even sincerely apologised. Sincere my arse.

If they do get sacked it will because off embarrassing the club, not their behaviour. Ched Evans still has a lot f support and clubs wanting to sign him.

AldiQ7 · 01/06/2015 08:21

I think quite a lot of young men would behave like this on a jolly to Thailand TBH. Don't be too sure our sons wouodnt do it.

Jesus Christ, if my son ever behaved like that I would know I had failed as a parent!

EggOnTheFloor · 01/06/2015 08:29

Not all footballers act like this. Sweeping generalisations don't help anyone.

However, it tends to be more British born footballers who see this as acceptable, it's well know in footballing circles that the British footballers are the worst (but not the only ones I'm sure).

Their behaviour is sickening (didn't watch video but have heard of it and read descriptions). The FA should really stamp down on this behaviour - it's bringing football into disrepute, and they should be banned and fined, to teach them a lesson.

EggOnTheFloor · 01/06/2015 08:30

I also agree with AldiQ7, if any son of mine behaved like this I'd be mortified and feeling like a failure as a parent.
