First time post, so I'll try not to waffle!
I know everybody is entitled to a holiday, but...
I was camping with ds in the Easter holidays.
We were in a field of families, with kids of all sorts. All generally mucking in together during the days, then generally going back for tea and bed between about 8-9. So far so good.
Apart from the odd-ball couple, who plonked their tent in the middle of the field (no kids, only 2 adults).
I don't want to say his snoring was bad, but 3 dads from the next field came to see what the row was! She was seen up walking around half the night...

If you know you (or your dp) snore loud enough to wake people in the next field, wouldn't you try to either go on holiday in term time (if you could, assuming they weren't teachers or something)
Or at least plonk your tent on the edge of the field/ in a corner/ not on a field full of small kids when you don't have kids with you. Lots of other spaces were free.

weeeeelllllllllll I was in a hotel once - a naice one, pre DCs and even I (very heavy sleeper) was woken up by someone snoring in another room ...it was that loud, swear the walls were vibrating Shock.
(I did wonder if he got sent off to sleep there every so often so that his poor family/neighbours etc could have a decent night's sleep sometimes...)

YABU - I love camping. I always take earplugs; tent walls are thin. Yabu about where they pitched their tent as well.

Jakadaal · 01/06/2015 16:46

Yeeesh now I know why I don't camp. Out of interest did his snoring manage to drown out the huge judgemental noises and helicopter parenting coming from your tent?

TSSDNCOP · 01/06/2015 16:50

Camping sucks.

I cannot get next to people whos idea of fun is to build their own leaky, draughty, mildewy accommodation and sleep in it especially in the UK.

YABU simply to go in the first place.

Fairy13 · 01/06/2015 16:57

My favourite was 'she was seen up wandering around half the night'

YABU and sound more than a little odd.

sonjadog · 01/06/2015 17:02

Going camping without ear plugs is madness.

Worse than snoring is guitar playing. My heart sinks when I see a fellow camper's guitar come out.

Gilrack · 01/06/2015 17:32

The person who stayed up all night - in order to see the snorer's DP wandering around - must have forgotten earplugs, as well.

I hear see a small business opportunity :)

unlucky83 · 01/06/2015 17:33

Ohh guitar playing nothing to do with camping but my neighbour used to do this - play his guitar and sing in his back garden - and it was truly terrible...I heard the first strum and my heart sank...
Never could work out what was worse that or when he sat on his decking and watched Jeremy Kyle etc through the patio doors - with the volume nice and loud so he could hear it Confused Angry....

So, people without children should be segregated from people with children.

As a childfree person I can see the merits in this suggestion.............

Ok. Looks like I am bu.
Obviously I shouldn't have noticed the girls on the adjacent swings calling some men daddy as this makes me nosy.
And next time I want fresh air friskiness, I will also consider the football area as that seems to be the generally accepted thing.
Nowhere did I mention it disturbing my ds. I could probably have put the tent away with him inside it, and not woken him! I did feel sorry for the families with younger kids. They were the ones being woken up.
Mayfriday do you eat dinner in bed?

Queenoftrouts
I wish I could invent time travel.
We had been there for 2 and a bit days. With all the standard kid/family related noises. No problems.
Day 3. They arrived. So I am fairly sure all the kids were there first.
