To think that this report on female leaders over 55

Essentially says that companies in trouble don't need business as usual leaders, but what they call Strategists - people who can think and work outside the existing system, and apparently the group with the largest proportion of these are women over 55.

Chance of senior management teams across the UK suddenly noticing hitherto ignored capable leaders who don't look exactly like them? Hmm

We use the Board Apprentice scheme in our company to promote diversity on our board. I have heard company boards described as "A place where old men go to eat their sandwiches" - not that I've got anything against old men! But it's good to have a range of people.

It sounds great, and an excellent way to bring on candidates who otherwise wouldn't have either the experience or the right network to be considered.

Yes that's the one. And it's free. I don't know why all companies don't use it.
