Taken at Norwood catacombs today but a friend who is the very antithesis of anything woo - as am I, mostly. I mean - I can see a person shaped shape - but she insists there was nobody there and I do believe her. What do you think?

This thread is hilarious, thanks everyone. Love the M&S dave ghost, i laughed outloud. Brilliant!

Grumpyoldbiddy · 31/05/2015 07:47

The shadow is on the wall, not on whatever is in front of the wall, why is this?

And why is it that upthread one rationale given for not believing in ghosts is that they always wear Victorian clothes and one rationale for this not being a ghost is that he is wearing an M&S jacket?

I'm not of the 'always woo' ilk, however I will keep an open mind and the shadow doesn't look right to me. Although yo be fair on the balance of probabilities it's more likely to be someone walking past.

RackofPeas · 31/05/2015 07:52

Its because she's not used a flash. I've tried to take pictures like that in low light levels before and you inevitably end up with a slow shutter speed and a blurred picture. If you zoom in you can see the picture is not well focussed. Someone was walking past and due to the longer exposure they have come out very blurred.
She's having you on.
Just laughing at the thought of my local m&s in a few hundred years.... Don't go in there because they're not just ANY ghosts!

Grumpyoldbiddy · 31/05/2015 08:32

So the slow exposure means that the shadow shows on the wall but not the pillar (or whatever) in front of the wall? A bit like when you do a panoramic photo and someone moves?

Debinaboat · 31/05/2015 08:37

Can anyone else see the pussy cats face on the wall to the right of the figure ?
As a pp said ,that's what I thought was going to be the ghost,it's far clearer than the 'figure'

Catsize · 31/05/2015 08:38

I can't see anything. Is that wooey in itself??

Catsize · 31/05/2015 08:42

Opps. jUst seen age 2.yup, it is a real person. With their shadow to the right. However, 'woo'ra, you have freaked me out completely.

Catsize · 31/05/2015 08:43

So spooked was I, I have lost all ability to check my posts before posting.

bruffin · 31/05/2015 08:48

Look at my profile. Photos my ds took when he was about 14. No photoshopping, they were intentional though so no ghost. Op picture looks like someone walking past blurred because of long exposure in the dark

WhatALoadOfOldBollocks · 31/05/2015 09:51

LOL, nice one Worra and ThingummyJigg Grin

TheReluctantCountess · 31/05/2015 09:57

Well I think it's freaky. I love this sort of thing.
And even ghosts can like the practically of M&S, you know!

charlie0123 · 31/05/2015 10:09

BernardlookImaprostituterobotf Ha ha - me too! Got dragged in, annoyed by it all And promptly left! Sorry for the derail op.

WeAreEternal · 31/05/2015 10:32

I'm 100% sceptic but ThingummyJigg's video is undeniable.

The photo is definitely a person walking into a low light photo.
The shadow is like that because no flash was used and the rooms light source is over to the far left, probably around 11 o'clock from the walking man, so his shadow is cast at a 5 o'clock angle.

TheReluctantCountess · 31/05/2015 10:38

It has just taken me ages to muster up the courage to watch that YouTube video.

Str1p3yl3af · 31/05/2015 11:55

That video gave me chills. Shock

HexBramble · 31/05/2015 12:35

Thingummy, you sod.
Could hardly breathe watching that.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 31/05/2015 12:38

Yes that's definitely a ghosty.

sanquhar · 31/05/2015 12:41

is thingummys vid a screamer? i fucking hate those.

WeAreEternal · 31/05/2015 13:23

No it is not one of those "la la la la.... ARRRGGGGHHHH" ones with the random screaming an the end of an otherwise dull video.

It is not jumpy or scary just a little unnerving as it is undeniable proof of ghosts.

Meepandyoup · 31/05/2015 14:31

Thingummy, I may never sleep again. I certainly won't go into the woods.

The OP's picture is definitely a slow shutter speed issue. There would be no need to use photoshop, or even know how to use a camera properly, to produce that.

I don't think I can be making much sense. The shadow is on the wall but not on the thing in front of the wall which you would expect it to be given the position of the person light and shadow.

So I'm not all that on 'woo' but this picture that a friend took - well AIBU to be a bit shocked?
Grumpyoldbiddy · 31/05/2015 14:56

Have you seen this?

It's not a jump scare one either:

Ha ha Grumpy!Grin

iHAVEtogetoutofhere · 31/05/2015 15:26

God, Thingummyjig that youtube clip in the lift is WICKED, actually.

Some of the victims look really really scared before the 'ghost' appears.

Wonder if it was all actors, or real victims? If so they are lucky no one went into cardiac arrest.
