To get a taste for Zinfandel?

Ok, so I've never really liked the taste of wine, but my taste buds are definately changing with age.
Whereas I would always choose sweet over savoury I now sometimes prefer crisps, cheese and crackers or a pie!
Someone gave DH me a bottle of Zinfandel Rose and I really like it, I've had 3 glasses this week which is very very rare for me, the family are looking at me like Confused and DD is convinced I've become alcoholic!
I know nothing about wine, but I know I like this taste, is it a good wine? or naff like the old Blue Nun Grin
What else might I like?

I add a large splash of Muscatel to any old wine and it's lovely.

And I don't care.

Drink what you like. Am currently reading the Knackered Mother's wine club which is great because it gives you lots of ideas of wines to try!

Christ I love Zinfandel. Barefoot or Sutters are my preference Grin

I got excited to see this thread but now I see that you are confusing zinfandel with white zinfandel . Zinfandel ia a glorious , ballsy red and i bloody love it, as is grenache, i love is as a varietal and it adds sex to a blend.
If you only like white grenache and white zin, you dont like wine they and dont start me on the likes of gallo rose and blossom hill.
Sorry for rant but i work in the wine industry and these "non wines" being confused with wine deeply offend me :)

Sorry for the passionate grammatical and spelling errors. But please if you like rose maybe try a Provence rose, much nicer and not grape juice with added sugar.

AkkerDemik · 31/05/2015 17:55

Rockstone Ridge White Zinfandel (Aldi, £4.49) is delish - really fruity and with a good depth of flavour.

So what if it's grape juice with added sugar.

grumpysquash · 31/05/2015 23:42

Zinfandel is often the only wine that non-wine drinkers can manage to drink!

You could try a Pino Gris (not Grigio - don't confuse as they are not the same!) if you are looking for something else you might like.
I love wine, it is more or less the only thing I drink....I have never tasted blue WKD....and can't do spirits (terrible hangover)

LavenderRain · 01/06/2015 19:19

tallulahturtle thanks for that but I can only like what I like Grin

Sorry to offend but I've yet to taste a red wine that I find palletable,
If I only enjoy the taste of grape juice and sugar then so be it Hmm
