AIBU to think that cbeebies bedtime hour is wildly optimistic in it's timeslot and that it can't just be my bundle of joy that is still decidedly not in bed!

Especially the line about having had such a busy morning now its time to eat, feel doubly guilty then if we've been doing fuck all instead of ACTIVITIES.

flora717 · 26/05/2015 23:40

Blush my DD's were always very good at toddling off to bed after the bedtime hour. Sometimes they couldn't make it and would ask to get ready for bed before it in case they dozed off.

syne · 26/05/2015 23:45

Finally, he's asleep :)
I don't think I could ever use the cbeebies as a schedule for my daily routine.
I might try it though just to see how it works out.

I wonder how strict the north korean cbeebies is?...

BBC3 isn't on any more - is it? I thought it was online only?

I feel your pain, yet think I win the thread with CBeebies related ire Grin

We're AT CBeebies land and Ds has not only burst into tears every time a ride comes to an end ... All. Day. And the ground man came to turf us out of Justin's Sensory Garden as the park was closed and Ds woyldnt leave! But worst is yet to come, we had to wait 50minutes for dinner at the hotel and so missed the golden hour of perfect sleepiness ... And he's only just fallen asleep NOW!!!

I ran out of steam and put ITNG on the iPad and fell asleep myself ...

Pico2 · 27/05/2015 00:19

YANBU. Bedtime starts at 7.30 here, or actually 8.30 today due to half term. And DD1 hates ITNG, so we can't have CBeebies after 6.25. Luckily we now have Tiny Pop, though it is of very variable quality. Timothy goes to school is tedious crap with bizarrely obese animals, but Peg + Cat is outstandingly good. It is the kind of programme that makes me sad that the BBC only broadcasts children's programmes made for CBeebies.

MiscellaneousAssortment · 27/05/2015 00:20

Sleep happened only when he'd wriggled under the giant hotel teddy bear, then called for iggle piggle to join him...

(Hoping that's a pretty anonymous pic?)

WienerDiva · 27/05/2015 06:04

Miscellaneous, that's hard. We were there a week ago and it was painful enough, dd was relatively well behaved about getting off rides etc. she just got pissed off that she couldn't go the big rides (Smiler, Nemesis etc).

I feel for you, doesn't help that they play the same songs over and over again. If I had to Special Delivery Sercice one more time is have punched myself in the ears.

LokiBear · 27/05/2015 08:00

My dd goes to bed at 7. Any later and she'd be knackered in the morning. She is fab at going to bed, one story and three songs followed by a promise that we will come back for a cuddle every ten minutes. She's usually fast asleep by the time the second cuddles rolls around. Introducing the 'cuddle every ten minutes' put a stop to any shouting or crying at bed time and I'd highly recommend it to anyone who has a child who cries when you go downstairs. She didn't sleep though until she was 2.5 so we had our fair share of challenging bed times.

WorldsBiggestGrotbag · 27/05/2015 08:04

Haha, it is the bedtime cue for us. Watches ITNG, then the story then bath and bed, asleep for 7.30pm.

grabaspoon · 27/05/2015 08:09

Dc (aged 2) used to physically turn of the TV and match himself off to bed at the end of the bed time hour

WorldsBiggestGrotbag · 27/05/2015 08:09

grab my 18 month old opens the door and starts heading up the stairs as soon as the song finishes Smile

wetsnow · 27/05/2015 08:22

Perfect for 16 month old dd. Night Garden. TV off for stories. Then up stairs for teeth and sleep. I love it! Long may it continue.

noblegiraffe · 27/05/2015 08:36

All these parents being trained into lunch at exactly 12 can be used to your advantage at theme parks etc. Go to the cafe for lunch at 11:50 and you'll have the place to yourself. Leave it till 12 and you'll be queuing for ages.

slightlyconfused85 · 27/05/2015 08:43

I am very lucky as the end of ITNG signals cleaning teeth, goodnight kiss and bedtime! She doesn't always go straight to sleep but she sure as hell stays in her room. She's only 2 and a half though and there's another baby on the way so my bubble will no doubt be bust very soon...

JimmyCorkhill · 27/05/2015 09:02

I love it when my DC have eaten/are eating when the lunchtime song comes on. I do an air punch and a cheer ignores fact DC are watching TV whilst eating. You take your parenting wins where you can get them Grin

You are all mad with these late bedtimes. It's 6pm here (the start that is, by the time bath/stories etc is done it's about 7pm). The One Show theme tune equals FREEDOM!

I agree with noblegiraffe. We often have lunch at 11:30 in cafes with all the old folk!

WorldsBiggestGrotbag · 27/05/2015 09:05

I didn't realise there was a cBeebies lunchtime cue aswell!

Buttercup27 · 27/05/2015 09:10

Yabu. Mine are 3 and 1 at it still works. Straight after in the night garden they are off upstairs for teeth and story. By 7.10 they are tucked up in bed and we're back down stairs. I just hope it lasts !

thanksamillion · 27/05/2015 09:44

I used to live in E Europe and the bedtime hour equivalent was 8-9pm. But children up to the age of 7 had to have a nap at school in the afternoon - imagine suggesting that here!

I have to say though that I love Cbbc and Cbeebies just for their lack of adds and for the thought that goes into the programmes apart from ITNG

NorahBone · 27/05/2015 10:00

YANBU. My 1yo doesn't go to bed until about 9 because of our jobs, but if we are at home he's watching the Simpsons at 6. ITNG sends me to sleep Blush

Pastamancer · 27/05/2015 11:35

DD will be 3 on Friday and her bedtime is 9pm. She still gets upset and repeatedly asks for more Cbeebies when 7pm comes. It doesn't matter how many times we tell her they have all gone to bed, she keeps saying please and asking for more.

switch off the bloody tv

Luckystar82 · 27/05/2015 12:28

Surely the idea is bedtime hour, followed by bath time (25 mins) followed by bedtime stories. This would be a reasonable hour to send them to bed.

No-one should be watching a backlit screen immediately before going to sleep anyway.
