AIBU?

AIBU to think surely this isn't that strange?

Not a very interesting sex related question but one that made me a little confused.

Friend and I were watching some rubbish B movie romance, no idea the name because to be honest we were chatting and drinking wine through most of it.We kept it on because it hit all the clichés: shy girl, bad boy, forbidden romance etc. and we were laughing over them as well.

Then comes the sex cliché. They have sex and within minutes he's asleep and she's sighing at the snoring. Friend tells me that's her and her DH the night before, I agree that's always myself and DH no matter what the circumstance: drunk, sober, early morning/late night. I told her that sex wakes me up, rather then sends me to sleep.

Friend tells me that that's strange that I'm very wide awake, almost bouncy after sex. I didn't think it was that strange? AIBU? Sex has always woken me up, regardless of partner and when I do orgasm it keeps me awake after even more.

Friend insisted that orgasms send her to sleep and that's the 'normal way', her exact words 'just like for men'.

AIBU to think it's not a really strange thing? My friend seemed to really think it is which I found a bit strang because how often do you compare sex lives to be so sure it's not normal anyway? I just though 'different strokes for different strokes'.

So am I the only 'strange one' according to my friend or does anyone else feel more awake after sex?

Wakes me up too, quite an energy boost unless I'm stupidly tired anyway. In fact there's no such thing as 'normal' when it comes to sex, everyone's a bit different, same as how it takes people different amounts of time to get arroused, or reach orgasm, or even what gets them there. Don't compare yourself, doesn't help anyone Smile

Another wide awake one here Smile
Surely biologically, it would make the most sense if men fall asleep and women are wide awake? In caveman times, that would mean that women would be alert and ready to escape predators with the precious cargo once they had been impregnated... Doesn't matter so much if the man gets eaten by a sabre toothed tiger, he has already done his bit towards propagation of the species Grin

I'm not alone! Definitely wakes me up. Kind of relaxes my brain but seems to push me into thinking about all sorts of interesting things and having ideas. I would love morning sex but toddlers in the house squeaking and such is not so sexy.

It usually wakes me up, but if I've very 'properly' finished, and dh finishes at about the same time (ie don't have to carry on and wake myself up again) then out like a light.

I think that's why it knocks men out more frequently tbh - they always have a proper orgasm, and that's when the whole show shuts down - they don't have to be kept up by carrying on making DH sound very selfish here!

Makes me drowsy, but takes longer to drop off.

WhispersOfWickedness I like your theory lol.

Thanks everyone. Really pleased I can tell my friend emphatically that I am not strange that is truly is different stokes for different folks! Grin

Masturbation-orgasms make me sleepy.
Sex-orgasms make me WIDE awake.

Just depends with me how tired I am when we start. Mostly I go to sleep afterwards if it's night. If it's morning and a work day it wakes me up but if it's morning and early enough or not a work day, I snooze.

DH generally falls asleep afterwards if he can but he likes mornings and knows he has to get up for work after. If it's afternoon, we love an afternoon sleep and I love it if we have sleepy middle of the night sex and just drift off to sleep.

I have noticed that in the almost 7 years we have been together he falls asleep more afterwards now than he did when he was 29. He reckons that is what a 6 month old baby does for you.

Sends me to sleep, this is why I am not a fan of morning sex, if I can't have a snooze after an orgasm I'm wiped out for the day!

It varies with me. Again around 50/50. I cannot predict based on how I feel before or even how the sex is.
For DH it's around 70/30 in favour of sleep.

Blush Different stokes for different folks lol

So the cliche is a lie for some, true for others and strangeness is definitely in the eye of the beholder.

emwithme I may have to experiment to test that theory for myself.

I think babies definitely lend towards sleep.

It makes me really really sleepy but wakes DH up so we seem to be the opposite to most.

After the first session I'm wide awake making Rollie's, putting away laundry or in the freezer eating ice. Grin After the second session I want to cuddle and may drift off, however if he's after another round it needs to be a quickie because I need sleep!! He naps in between btw. He's not really a machine lol
