To eat my lunchtime sandwich by 10:30?

Pathetic. I'm ok (til, say, 12:00) if I am with someone else, but if there is nobody else in my office and I suddenly remember it lurking in my bag, it just has to be eaten straightaway, even if the filling is boringsville, which it usually is eg cheese and cucumber. Why don't I have an iron will when it comes to my packed lunch? By 3pm on premature-lunch-eating days (such as today) I want to eat my own arm.

I do this when I have had a proper breakfast and there are people in the office. I Have No Shame.
I love my prelunch lunch.

You are bored! take a different am snack. Put a timer lock on your buttie box, , find something interesting to do, organise all your meetings for 10.30 etc. I used snack at 3pm - lethal choc machine just around corner from desk, so had a diet coke and mars bar (!) issue. Solved by organising all meetings for 3pm a) using time b) reducing boredom and c) removing self from vicinity!!!!

I've done this too ( many times in fact) - I started eating a fuller breakfast which resulted in eating lunch later, albeit by only an hour :)

Can't stand soggy sandwiches. Yuk.

YANBU in the slightest OP.

Three sandwiches? Grin

DollsHouseTeaParty · 26/05/2015 22:29

As late as 10:30?

That's just mid-morning boredom. The coffee has worn off and you've ages until lunch so you scoff your sandwich.

In my last office they had a Greggs run at 10:30 so the temptation of a sausage roll etc was often too much!

Selks · 26/05/2015 22:33

Take your breakfast to work. You could easily take a Tupperware pot of yogurt, muesli and fruit and eat it when you get there (as long as that is ok with your work). Eating breakfast later will stop premature lunch munching.

PigeonPie · 26/05/2015 22:42

My Ma used to eat her sandwich by 9.30 and her staff used to be shocked. I think of her every time I manage to last until 11.30!

I'm fine at home and can go all day without eating, probably because it means I've got to get up and actually make something, but when I'm out working in a different office I do have to have huge willpower not to eat it before 11.30.

championnibbler · 26/05/2015 22:54

i've done this countless times.
unfortunately, i inherited an enormous appetite from both my parents who are big eaters.
i'm entirely convinced that appetite size is inherited.

however, at the moment i'm in a cycle of having no lunchtime meals at all.
work is too busy, so lunch is simply out of the question.

but - in the past i have been ready for my lunchtime meal at 10:30am.
and then my evening meal at 4pm.
i wish i had a small appetite like so many people i know Sad
being physically needy for food all the time is so hard...

TwilightSparkle · 26/05/2015 23:08

I'm the same, but it's because I often don't eat breakfast. Which is silly of me, but mornings are a rush and I don't prioritise feeding myself.

SueBigFatSue · 26/05/2015 23:26

I do this at home. If I have something nice in for lunch, I count down the minutes until midday. Usually get to about 11 though before deciding I've waited long enough.
I'm more controlled in work, I can last until about 1pm and then go at it. Unless somebody has pissed me off, that's when I'll go earlier to relax Grin

WyrdByrd · 26/05/2015 23:31

Would having something savoury for breakfast help - eggs or beans on toast etc?

I've not got an overly sweet tooth, and don't eat a great deal of bread so if I have a decent sandwich on me at work I'm absolutely craving it by 10am, or failing that, crisps or something else savoury.

hellhasnofurylikeahungrywoman · 26/05/2015 23:33

I got up at 5.30am, ate breakfast at 6, started work at 7.30am and finally had a lunchbreak at 4.45pm, I was a tad hungry by then Grin, and finished work at 8.40pm (oh the joys of working for the NHS)

RedSoloCup · 26/05/2015 23:36

I so do this, I even did it at home the other day and ate my bagel at 11!!

Also sometimes I have a cooked Sunday lunch, toast before I go to work at 6 and then I buy a sandwich as well!!

I'm only size 8 though I think it all must speed my metabolism up ;)

whois · 26/05/2015 23:36

I used to do this... Ended up eating my sandwich on my morning break rather than lunch. Ended up taking two sandwiches while I had that job.

In my defence I was 18 so probably still growing. Maybe.

NormaStits · 27/05/2015 09:27

I used to be like this with the office biscuits. They'd all have a cuppa and a biscuit and I'd decline because I wouldn't feel like it. Buy if the room was empty I'd find myself in the corner around from the door, cramming about 3 into my mouth. It's almost primal.

There was always a huge stash, to which I contributed by the way, not like I was stealing their last digestive!

MrsTedCrilly · 27/05/2015 09:33

I used to do this and then was famished the rest of the day, so I took my breakfast to work too! I'm never hungry early in the morning anyway. So have breakfast about 11 and then lunch at 2 Smile

maggiethemagpie · 27/05/2015 20:30

Why don't you forgo breakfast, but take an extra sandwich which is your breakfast sandwich, and eat this around 9.30 - then you can go til lunch without actually eating two lunches.

This is what I do most days as I hate eating first thing but get hungry around 10 ish

QuiteIrregular · 27/05/2015 20:37

I feel your pain - did this today, and when I went for a coffee with a friend, they asked if I fancied a muffin. 'oh no, I just had a sausage sandwich' 'At eleven in the morning?' If only I'd thought to pass it off casually as a working brunch...

Casperthefriendlyspook · 27/05/2015 20:43

I do second breakfast instead. So, up at 5.45, 1st breakfast about 6.30, into work around 8, second breakfast 8.30/8.45, lunch 1pm. See easy! Smile

Summerisle1 · 27/05/2015 20:45

I used to take two sandwiches. One of them a marmalade sandwich. That way I could tell myself that I was merely finishing breakfast rather than starting on lunch!
