to want to have a little cry (ice cream related)

we had a bowl of ice cream at lunch. It had choc sauce, crushed peanuts and digestive biscuits on top.

except the peanuts and digestive weren't on top. DH mashed mine into the ice cream. I wanted it sprinkled. i thanked him, but inside i was shedding a tear for the ice cream as i had envisioned it. it just didn't taste the same.

aibu for feeling so ungrateful? Wink

Sorry Hearts, not very clear pictures.

We put toppings on a frozen marble slab, then add a scoop or two of ice cream on top. Using chocolate making tools, we chop and fold the toppings into the ice cream. Everythinf needs to be cold because you don't want the ice cream to melt as soon as you start working with it. By the time you start to fold it, it all blends together. Mashing is the way to go!

Everything*

He mashes roast potatoes into gravy? I'm outraged. What's the point in roasting potatoes only to go and ruin them?

TheCrowFromBelow · 25/05/2015 16:59

DP once made spag Bol and added chilli.
i actually cried Blush not my finest moment but spag Bol was my favourite food and the first mouthful was just Wrong.

Pixa · 25/05/2015 17:00

Mashing roast potatoes into gravy is almost a criminal offence!

Well, by the time OH paid the bill another choc mint was added.. Well no way could we leave three sat there.

So he picked them up and brought them with us. Their future will be decided at a later date.

Unless they go fluffy in his pocket.

Problem solved then!

Dowser · 25/05/2015 17:35

My dad used to love savoury food swimming in gravy, sweet dishes swimming in custard.

I am scarred for life!

Dowser · 25/05/2015 17:38

Thinking of all the sugar free desserts you can make. Could you add a bit of rum to the chocolate/ cream mix or does that defeat the object.

What about coconut oil instead of butter

I remember doing something with crunchy peanut butter and mixed fruit and nuts at sw , making little truffles. Must have put them in the fridge.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 25/05/2015 17:54

you could add a bit of rum. not sure about coconut oil although I don't see why not. personally coconut in my deserts makes me vom but knock yourself out Grin

BaronVonShush · 25/05/2015 18:04

nope DH did not do the mashing with any kind of finesse in the style of pixa. he crushed the biscuit and peanut first (all well and good), but then he half stirred half mashed it into the icecream in the bowl. and then didn't even mould it back into an ice cram serving kind of shape. it was a dog's dinner!

this is the man who once put red wine and oregano in a stir fry Hmm. I actually stamped my foot at that one! it was a long time ago and he never did it again...

I had to click- ice cream related tears in the over 5s are rare. Totally with you, op.

Retaliate by making him an English breakfast. Mash the fried egg, black pudding, fried bread into the baked beans. Stir in the milky tea if you're feeling adventurous.

BaronVonShush · 25/05/2015 18:45

reni I've just remembered another icecream related upset I had two years ago so in my life icecream tears are more common than you think! On that occasion DH bought me a pistachio ice cream instead of a pistachio crunch ice cream. I was pregnant at the time and it didn't go down well.

I'm starting to feel sorry for DH now. He can't win for losing Grin

I feel cheated. I've been pregnant numerous times and I never managed to have any tantrums.

BaronVonShush · 25/05/2015 18:59

I don't know why I mentioned that I was pregnant then, I would have probably not been happy regardless.
I've mellowed a lot, now I just feel sad on the inside re food misdemeanors.

Food misdemeanours are very serious things.

MishMooshAndMogwai · 26/05/2015 00:44

My Dp kindly made me cheesey beans on toast the other week. Only he didn't. He made me some kind of horrendous cheese on toast with beans abomination with cheese placed on top of toast with beans plonked on top rather than the normal toast-beans-grated cheese combo a normal person would do!

I'm significantly pregnant and am unashamed to say that I was appauled and sulked.
