To ask for toddler suitable alternatives to FFS

DS is 2.9, speech improving but still a bit unintelligible to other people at times. Thankfully, given that he's picked up "for fuck's sake" as an expletive.

Ignoring in the hope it'll be less interesting and will fade away hasn't worked. He mostly mutters it to himself when frustrated. Think it's time to try retraining him to use something else.

Any great suggestions for pithy phrases that aren't sweary?

OP, I've had exactly the same situation this week with my DS, who is also 2.9!

I was queueing in the shop when DS randomly piped up, 'Daddy say FUCK SAKE in the car, Mummy!'. And he then repeatedly it, as only toddlers do, louder each time, about 25 times. I was waiting for the ground to swallow me up, the girl behind the counter was desperately stifling laughter, and the lady in front of me looked like she was about to strangle herself with her judgypants...

Five minutes kater, I tried to open DS's packet of crisps for him in the park. I was clearly doing it too slowly as he grumbled 'FUCKSAKE Mummy...' and rolled his eyes at me!

I have had very strong words with 'Daddy', who was embarrassed and v apologetic.

I usually go with For Pete's Sake, or Goodness Sake. Am loving some of these suggestions though, especially the Thomas ones - 'PUMP MY PISTONS!' Grin Grin Grin

'Felicity Flaming Kendal' is something used a lot now.

Sister-in- law says "cheesemonger!"

I explained to my 4 year old that he's not allowed to use "grown-up words" instead of fighting a losing battle to get my ex not to swear around him

Chuggington has 'Oh Bumpers' which my DC used quite a bit!

pissovski · 24/05/2015 22:06

"For crying out loud" has always been a go to non swear for me (I used to be a teacher)

I try to remember "bother" or "bumpers" instead of bugger!

DS is 4 and says 'oh doggies' or 'oh my doggies'. I have no idea where its come from! we don't have or know anyone with a dog, but DS loves dogs, so that it becoming the adopted replacement for FFS here.
