more of an i doing wrong re medical appts

if I have a medical thing to do docs, dentist, hospital and I have the kids I take them with me + ipad/ds.
I see loads of people saying they can't get child care so can't go for things.

Is there something I don't understand (ok quite a lot i know :) but relevant to this question).

I do smears and have no issue with babies or toddlers in prams/buggies.

I've done a couple with fractious babies on mums' chest

I don't mind children being present for any stuff I have to do but I don't appreciate children running riot whilst I do my job; if they will sit nicely for a minute whilst I take the smear sample -great. If they're charging around the room trying to climb in the bin whilst mum is otherwise indisposed - not great!
