To think Victorians had right idea with teeth?

I have had years of hassle with teeth, was meant to get cracked tooth out today but freaked as abscessed so had fillings on others instead. Cracked tooth split clean in two and now wobbling in gum.

So AIBU to think Victorians had a point in removing all teeth and just wearing falsies? Poor dad who is 8 needs 4 out and 5th crowned.

Before I get flamed for not taking care of teeth I do but we are both terrible grinders/clenchers

I really don't think he meant it how it sounded. And it gave me and student 2 something to snigger about Grin Since I haven't had dental treatment since I was 6 ever, I think he was just clumsily trying to make it easier for me (I didn't know whether or not I was allowed to sit up and spit out the water during the 'break' for example)

But I will remember next time, it's not my job to suck! Grin

(He's still Mr. Suck On It in my head, forever more) Grin

And, ladies of mumsnet, if you're invited to suck on an aspirator, say no. They suck back twice as hard and kinda take your cheeks with them.

I had a molar out last year and I feel SO disappointed about it - depressed even. I know it's trivial in the scheme of things but i just feel shitty about it, like this is another thing I am crap at Sad I am contemplating a lovely implant.

Teeth are nothing but a trouble lasted well into the 1970s in the States. My father had fewer than six teeth when he was my age, but was also a chain smoker. Someone in my grandmother's high school class received false teeth as a graduation present c.1934.
My siblings and I all have lots of fillings and crowns. My sister is filling her upper plate on the installment plan. We inherited bad teeth. Moreover, my folks were Birchers who believe fluoride was hazardous.

Genetics do play a part. I've always brushed my dcs teeth until about 6 when they do it and I check. My eldest had 6 teeth out last year yet ds is exactly a year younger, so same age as she had teeth out, and his teeth are perfect. They've always eaten and drank the same so diet and oral hygiene can't be solely to blame for dd needing teeth out.

I have weak teeth and my dentist has told me it's likely due to being ill with recurrent tonsillitis as a toddler as this is when adult teeth develop and illness and medication at this time can affect the developing teeth.
