I slipped backwards in the shower this morning and hit the back of my head on the edge of the bath. As well as feeling battered and bruised all over I've felt very sick since it happened and also have a headache that seems to be getting worse.

I know I should probably be seen but I've got no one to have my 3yo DS and I don't drive so it means dragging him and me on a 40 minute bus ride. WIBU to just have a duvet day and try and rest instead of going to A and E?

I'd probably feel the same as you but if somethig happened do to you because you didn't it would be awful, YABU and I think you should see someone about it.

NynaevesSister · 20/05/2015 09:57

Sorry it sounds like concussion. I would really take yourself to A&E or there might be a Minor Ailments Unit much closer. Call someone even if they are miles away and keep them on the phone until you are on your way. Get them to look up the info you need. There must be someone you can at least call?

discophile · 20/05/2015 09:57

Yes, you are being very unreasonable.

You can't go for a 40 minute bus ride.

Call an ambulance - I would.

Is there a neighbour or someone near you can call to hand-hold?

WannabeLaraCroft · 20/05/2015 09:59

Hmm how about phoning the doctor for some advice? You might have concussion!

Hope you're ok. Flowers

madreloco · 20/05/2015 10:00

Don't tell her to call an ambulance, ffs, she's perfectly able to get herself to a&e if she thinks its warranted.

ladyflower23 · 20/05/2015 10:00

I think you should go to a&e. I know it sounds dramatic but if you have a head injury you could lose consciousness and then your ds will be alone. Hope you will be ok Flowers

MomentOfWonder · 20/05/2015 10:00

If you've hit your head and are feeling sick with a severe headache, please get seen as soon as possible! I really sympathise as I have a toddler too but if you are incapacitated you won't be able to look after them anyway. Feeling sleepy can also be a bad sign. I don't want to scare you and am not a medic but head injuries can be so dangerous. Can you call 111?

MomentOfWonder · 20/05/2015 10:02

On second thoughts, I agree that I'm your situation I'd call 999 too. Hope all is OK.

singlikethepianoMargot · 20/05/2015 10:02

you need to go to a&e now. What if you lose conciousness while you are alone wit your son? Can you afford a taxi? If not if honestly call an ambulance.

inthenickoftime · 20/05/2015 10:02

I phone the minor injury unit because they only deal with certain things. They told me I would need to see a doctor - they only have nurses.

I know IABU so will try and sort out childcare and maybe get a (expensive) taxi to A and E Sad

Thanks for the kick up the bum.

I'm just on hold to speak to someone in A and E to see if there's any thee option like seeing my GP instead.

LittleMissRayofHope · 20/05/2015 10:10

Much much better to have a wasted trip to a&e then slip into unconsciousness later on and leave your DS trapped indoors alone with his mother passed out somewhere. At least if you go they can treat you and care for both you and DS. But imagine what might happen to DS if you pass out and he then gets himself....

YABU. Put your child first. Go for his benefit of not for yourself

SonceyD0g · 20/05/2015 10:20

Have you got someone who can be with you? A frind of mine received a bang on the head at work. Was taken to a and e by her manager who gave her the once over. Told her to take some painkillers and go home. Manager took her back to work so she could collect her car. She passed out driving home, when she came to she was being loaded into an ambulance as she had crashed her car into a tree. Thankfully she was not badly injured. This happened several hours after the bang on the head. But please never ever ignore symptoms like yours it does sound very likely that you have concussion. Hope you feel better soon but please get someone to be with you for the rest of the day. Better safe than sorry

inthenickoftime · 20/05/2015 10:24

DP is going to nip out of work to take me. Hopefully I'm just overreacting.

Thanks all....even for the horror stories!

Fingers crossed you will be ok, better to be on the safe side though Thanks

MomentOfWonder · 21/05/2015 07:50

How did it go at A and E OP? Hope all was well.

inthenickoftime · 21/05/2015 14:42

I was there for 6 hours. Had a CT scan and an X-ray but just very bad concussion. I'm glad I went though because just after I got to A and E I could barely stay away and a few hours later I felt like I'd drunk a few bottles of wine and found myself absolutely hilarious...which I am obviously Wink

Thanks all for telling me straight!

Glad you are OK OP Flowers

Keep in touch with your GP and don't be put off calling them out if you need advice or have any other symtoms. Hopefully it will wear off quickly though Smile

SonceyD0g · 21/05/2015 15:01

Glad you are ok. Was a good job you went!

MomentOfWonder · 21/05/2015 15:23

Good news that you went and you're OK! Next time I find myself hilarious I'll definitely check to see whether I might be concussed Wink Hope your Bank Holiday weekend is way less eventful and much more relaxing Flowers
