I'm zapped. Like a lot of mum's. I work part time and my job is full on. I look after my 2 year old on the days in between. The weekends are currently a bus mans holiday while my husband does house reparations.

I feel frazzled. Constantly in demand be it by work or home and feel slightly like I'm losing my marbles.

So, I've booked a days annual leave tomorrow to literally sit and do nothing. Not run about with juice, wiping up poo, preparing 3 different dishes at the perfect toddler-friendly temperature, respond to 'urgent' emails, wipe a constantly snotty nose, wait ten minutes while my independent daughter demands to walk downstairs by herself and point at every tiny mark on the wall/bit of fluff in the carpet asking 'what's this?' And 'why?' On repeat, watch Peppa for 76hrs, do the food shop, clean.

I love my daughter. I love my husband. But I also love me and I need some me-time.
SO...I am planning on watching a tonne of telly that I like and my husband hates. Eat McDonald's. Play sims (Yep, like I'm 15), put Vaseline on my feet & wear fluffy socks, maybe have a nap, drape myself in a lambswool throw that was a wedding gift and is safely tucked away for fear of being smeared with poo or jam, or even poojam.

Is there anything else I can do to make the ten hours to myself even more blissful?

I also am too jealous to even let myself think. ..

Or something involving lie in. Sunshine. Film. Chocolate. Wine.

Hmmm

Ooooh and a Massage Smile

Have a fab day OP

Oh, you could put a boiling pan on the front hob just for the sheer thrill of it.

And go to the toilet all by yourself without DS 2 demanding to see your willy Confused

hotdogsandmustard · 19/05/2015 19:39

Oh my god , just do it

My children are older and independent but I cant , I feel the guilt

Do it and come back to tell me how great it was , inspire me

Alibabsandthe40Musketeers · 19/05/2015 19:44

OP I totally get you - I do this sometimes. I go shopping the day before and get nice food for myself (including cake and crisps), have clean sheets on the bed, get dressed into slouchies and just have a day at home playing computer games or watching a box set with a nap in the lovely clean crisp bed at some point during the day.

Enjoy Grin

Never feel the guilt!
There is no guilt!
I had five hours to myself every Saturday from when dcs were 6 weeks old. I'd go to the library, shopping, a bar..anywhere..to feel human.

With all holidays, you need a souvenir. Can you get yourself some teeny trinket to remind yourself of your trip to Saneland?

TrulyTurtles · 19/05/2015 20:02

I'd go to ikea. That's sad.
Museums, art galleries, haircut, mooch round Fenwicks makeup department, nice lunch. NO top shop, Hollister or pouring over every single thing in primark. No rushing because Dh has puppy dog face. Maybe even some alcohol.

silverglitterpisser · 19/05/2015 20:48

Could actually cry with jealousy!

Think you've got all bases covered. As long as there is cake n some nice snuggly blankets it's a winner for me.

Enjoy every beautiful minute.

SummerHouse · 19/05/2015 20:50

Ooooh haircut... Good one! I have not been for about 5 inches!

Peanutbutterfingers · 19/05/2015 20:59

My favourite self indulgence is going to the cinema during the day in the week so practically empty, with cans of pre mixed g&t and an m&s picnic.

I work from home so would be too tempting to check emails and 'just do' little bits

Have a lovely lovely day :)

Snowballschanceinhell · 19/05/2015 21:01

A leisurely morning in bed with an almond croissant, a coffee and the latest Ideal Home magazine. This will feel all the better as I'll have changed the sheets and have put nice clean jammies on.

Then downstairs for some quality sofa time, kicked off with a bit of Homes Under The Hammer followed by as much of a box set as I can manage (Greys Anatomy, Orange is the new Black etc....)

Picky nibbles for lunch (purchased the day before) cheese and meats and olives and humous and a bag of caramel nibbles, and maybe a few glasses of prosecco. Then a nap.

Judydreamsofhorses · 19/05/2015 21:02

I love a massive bath with a stack of glossy mags, a bag of Percy Pigs, a face-mask and music on the iPad. Then clean jammies, M&S shove-in-oven food, wine and trashy telly. This is my absolute favourite when DH is away for the weekend.

propelusagain · 19/05/2015 21:16

I would start with an exercise or yoga class, massage or hair done. Large pile of fresh mussels, white wine and a tidy house to come home to.

Whatthefucknameisntalreadytake · 19/05/2015 21:20

Don't get out of bed.
All day.
Surround your bed with wagon wheels, fondant fancies and crunchies, load up a load of books on your kindle and spend all day drifting in and out of the sugar coma.
Then in the evening, have a bath, clean pajamas, and back into bed.
That, my friend, is a pamper day.

You know ladies if we play the long game freedom is ours anyway!!! Sometimes I take a moment to fantasise about what it will be like in 10 yrs when I don't have 3 kids under 3!!! Always makes me warm and tingley. I know older kids are a handful in some ways but it we will get more freedom until suddenly boom! Total freedom again but with family to spend time with and special occasions. So in the meantime I'm going to make an effort to book those special days off when I can and otherwise enjoy the chaos of the early years.

Fresh bedding - genius touch Alibaba!

I lay in bed last night and recounted this thread to my DH. We were both Shock that peopke would leave the house and not choose sleep sleep and more sleep.

We might be a little sleep deprived..

SinglePringle · 20/05/2015 08:28

Wake up.
Go to Pilates class
Come home.
Bubble bath with current Box Set on the iPad
Smoked salmon and avocado on whole grain toast. And a poached egg. Or two.
Face on
Go clothes shopping
Go for lunch. With wine.
Go to hairdressers
Go for Elemis facial. Sleep.
Come home. Nap.
Another bubble bath. With wine.
Eat steak. With wine.
Watch telly. With wine.
Go to bed in fresh linen and pjs.
Sleeeeeeeeep.
