I am at the moment at home and have a ds3 (nearly 6 mnths),other two dd are already 11 and 12.
I am not working for the past 2years ( worked as a assistant to a private OT) she relocated outside of London-Sheffield- and it was really hard for me (live in London) after I worked for her nearly 8years.I don't have no formal qualifiction.

I need to get back to work and I was wondering how do i become HCA ? Where to go and enquire? It's immposible to find any info.
Please if anyone can advice me I would be thankful,

NHS jobs would be a good place to start.

I really don't understand how you can possibly be so confused. If you search for "become hca" or "hca careers" you get loads of results.

Pop in at your local hospital & see what bank HCA roles are going.

The majority of hospital HCA jobs will be advertised on www.jobs.nhs.uk

Very few hospitals recruit directly. Even hospital bank work may be advertised online, via NHS Professionals. It is worth asking local hospitals about joining their bank though.

Nursing homes and GP surgeries will recruit directly so look in local papers or online for care jobs.

I became a HCA through my local nhs jobs website. I applied to several direct advertisements and one block booking. The block booking, where they matched me to a post, worked and a year on I'm still in the job. I had no care qualifications - just shed loads of informal experience - but they gave me a shot :)

I just clicked on the link and there were lots!

My local hospital advertise on that site but they have an recruitment department in the hospital where you go to see them/produce documents.

Call them and book an appointment as sometimes you don't hear back from the website. Or get overlooked by others who will have experience.

Hospitals are very grateful for bank staff. It's an excellent 'step through the back door'

I was offered a job as HCA in A&E - which would of been fantastic but my circumstances changed (and the process took ages) so I had to take another job Hmm will definitely go back to it when I need a flex job.

With bank you will work in different departments depending on where the support is needed. Maternity/A&E, ICU etc. So you'll never be bored. Grin

I also had no previous experience. As long as you are passionate about patient care and dignity and are concious about infection control you'll be fine.
