Careers Advice in Worcestershire

Just what it says - can anyone help?

My DD would like advice on what careers to look at and then work back to what uni courses and which 'A' levels to look at (has 2 grade Cs)

She left college 2 years ago so there it's not like she can approach school/college. Going by the advice she was given at college it was a pile of shite anyway.

Happy to pay

national careers service - online

Possibly your local service if a) it still exists and b) she's unemployed and under 19

otherwise there isn't a lot - we all got closed down and cut in the council budget cuts

I can try and help and there are others here who are/where careers advisers

she could approach her local college for advice around options - with 2 c's she would be unlikely to be able to access A levels but depending on age could do an access to HE course

Thanks

Local office is shut now and she was after a face to face service

She is 20 and employed. I wasn't clear on the 2 grade Cs. They are 'A' levels so she is looking at doing a third one part time.

The careers advice she received when she was at college was basically carry with your part time job. No advice as to what extra exams she could look at (she was doing an A2 and an AS and A" in one year in another subject so uni wasn't an option at the time)

I think the university has a careers service.

Speak to the university.
I was in a similar situation a few years ago and Worcester university were really helpful

CMOTDibbler · 20/05/2015 10:05

She could talk to someone at Heart of Worcestershire college - they say on that page that you can talk to them about what you might study to get a career choice

mistletoeprickles Thanks for that. It is our local uni but I was thinking that they would be there for the students.

CMOTDibbler Again thanks. I feel slightly ashamed to admit that I should have made more attentio to the HOW website since my younger DC actually attend it!
