I answered the door to take in my shopping delivery wearing loungewear I.e full length pj bottoms and a vest top and he commented "have you just got up?" with a smirk. it was 5pm. but even if I had just got up, is it any of his bloody business? ! as much as I make small talk on the doorstep to these perfect strangers, thought that strayed into into non of his business and just abit rude.
I just said 'no actually' without a smile. think he got the message. what an arse. aibu to complain or am.i just in a mood?

Why would you answer the door in PJs? You booked the delivery ffs!!

maroonedwithfour · 16/05/2015 19:33

Leave it, know were your coming from, he was rude but youve given him short shrift so
Leave it at that.

Thanks for your replies. As I said before, I have thought better of complaining, I was having a moment.

Given that you were wearing pyjamas, i don't even think it was a particularly rude question.

FirstWeTakeManhattan · 16/05/2015 19:46

Glad to hear it, OP. It would have been pretty mean. Absolutely nothing to get offended by.

orangutanhihio · 16/05/2015 19:58

Why didn't you tell him to mind his own business? Not that you should have, but it seems a bit cowardly and unkind to report him for it, he will get into trouble. I think you're overreacting, you shouldve addressed your issue with him, not his manager.

Trumpity · 16/05/2015 20:06

To some pp.... What's wrong with answering door in pjs / loungewear? I change as soon as the children are in bed (it used to be as soon as I got home from work) so around 6-7pm. It never crossed my mind it wasn't the done thing... I'm just really comfy in them!

letscookbreakfast · 16/05/2015 20:08

I think that the OP needs to get a grip.

I too have answered the door in my jammies late in the afternoon. I also wore a rather splendid fluffy purple dressing gown. My Tesco driverssked where he could get one like it for his wife. M&S online, by the way.
The drivers from both Tesco and Sainsburys are great. When I had a badly smashed arm they packed all the shopping away for me and opened tins of food for my cats. One even made me coffee. Lovely people, and I said so to their employers. ?? ??????

I alwayswear sweats at home, regardless of whether I am working, studying or cleaning the house. I though that was pretty normal? I'd get pretty annoyed if someone commented on what I wear in my own home.

Then again, I'm not exactly an easy-going person! Grin

MrsTedCrilly · 16/05/2015 20:18

Agree with others that it's just misjudged small talk but I do hate the way some people think anyone not on a 9-5 out of the house is not working or being lazy!
I'd have just said as pp suggested.. "Yeah, awesome isn't it?" Grin

RubyMay82 · 16/05/2015 20:49

Banter......
That's what he was attempting
Pretty sure if you tried to complain you would get laughed off the phone.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 16/05/2015 21:58

I had a delivery from Sainsburys ( rare for me I think I've done 4 or 5) after I fell in the garden and knackered both arms.
I asked the driver to put the bags in the kitchen (explaining the fall) which he did and asked "Were you drinking?"

"No, I don't drink" I replied, "if I was drunk i wouldn't have hurt myself" Wink

GnomeDePlume · 16/05/2015 22:10

It was small talk. They get told to do this. Say something and one person will whine about what was said. Say nothing and someone will whine that they are grumpy.

DH used to be a home delivery driver it was a shade above NMW and he had to give up because his blood pressure shot through the roof. Given the customers, I am not surprised.

It is a crap job. The drivers are out until late with zero support from their company and seemingly zero appreciation from the customers.

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 16/05/2015 22:14

Jeez he should be fucking shot!

Or you could get a grip.
