To think a strip wash isn't very nice?

As in a bowl, water, flannel and soap?

AIBU to think that if able people should be able to have a bath or a shower?

Years ago as part of basic army training we were taught how to have strip washes when we couldn't get to showers (or ablutions!) a skill that has stood me in good stead. Btw I shower daily now!!

Oh I have just remembered a bit in "Lark Rise to Candleford" (the book not the TV programme of the same name) where it describes how the village women have a strip wash when all the family are out - because of course no one had a bathroom. One of the women said how she would "Wash down as far as possible and then wash up as far as possible." Of course the ribald would then enquire what poor old possible had done that she had to be left out!

I shower every other day. I wash 'pits and bits' on the days I don't shower - so essentially a strip wash.

I don't smell and I'm not grim / dirty.

I spent a grim 12 months in my twenties without a bath or a shower. In that time I had balls and dinners I had to attend, had to look and smell presentable for work, and had a complete twat of a partner.

I stayed at my mother's once every three to four weeks , and had a shower then.

It's doable but not nice. Shaving your legs is interesting, as is washing your hair.
I never, ever smelled though, I probably washed more than I do now as I was so paranoid.

It is vile. Any London tube bus or train is absolutely rank with an overpowering odour of unwashed bodies. And I'm sure that those people don't think they smell. But if you see the look of horror on the faces of tourists as they unwittingly breathe in......It is not acceptable, and YANBU.
